Summary Supports all activities of the winemaking process. This role encompasses responsibility for influencing the growing of grapes (raw materials stage) through the quality of wine delivered to the consumer.  
What You Will Do: Supports the management of winery workflow processes using various software systems. Maintains and sorts data from winemaking trials, experiments and wine processing operations. Manages wine process operations as assigned including the writing of work orders Coordinates the work order process, including writing work orders for inventory management and winery processing. Partners with production personnel to coordinate work order execution. Executes periodic operational audits/observations to ensure that work instructions are being executed as written. Participates in wine tasting to evaluate and make recommendations to improve wine quality. Ensures wine quality specifications are maintained as directed by product owner Reviews wine analysis data and informs team of analysis that does not meet specifications. Supports sample requests and inventory tastings and will periodically pull samples. Conducts bench trials and supports evaluation of results. Conducts operational trials including reporting results May be responsible for ensuring wines are ready for shipping and/or bottling Participates in issue resolution surrounding logistical, quality and labor limitations. Brings potential solutions to their manager for review. Partners with production personnel to coordinate work order execution. May participates in management of grape receiving and wine production operations during harvest, as assigned. Supports the wine production processes across all wine varieties and brands. Contributes to the continuous improvement of the winemaking processes and procedures. Responsible for understanding and following all applicable winemaking SOPs. Supports various projects including those that encompass company strategic initiatives Works cross-functionally to ensure successful execution of winemaking processes. Builds strong cross functional relationships. Adapts and adheres to winemaking/spirits making process changes with guidance from the Winemaking Leadership team. May participate in berry sensory analysis and fundamental vineyard assessments, including attending vineyard trips to understand streaming and harvest decisions. May participate in monitoring fermentation activity and analysis/management of grapes received during harvest. Maintains awareness of key competitors and industry trends. Promotes an inclusive culture. May mentor interns and/or lab technicians. Consults leadership and ensures expenses are within budget and complies with company guidelines. Conducts presentations for internal customers. Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness. Supervisory Responsibilities N/A What You Will Need: Bachelors in Science or Engineering plus 1 year of enology, winemaking, viticulture, or chemistry experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility Candidates for this position must have a valid driver's license and safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver's license or appropriate state driver's license within 30 days of hire. Required to lift and move up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Required to possess the color vision necessary to judge and evaluate wine color. Required to taste and evaluate wines. Required to be 21 years of age or older due to wine tasting. High School Diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate. Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description. Required to be 18 years or older. What Will Set You Apart: Bachelors in Viticulture or Enology plus 2 year of enology, winemaking, viticulture, or chemistry experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility Required to have at least 1 harvest or Winery internship experience Basic sensory exposure to the world of wine Data base knowledge and strong excel skills: such as SQL, Viz basic, Basic wine chemistry analysis execution Hands on cellar work Experience reading, analyzing and interpreting general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Experience writing reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Experience presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Skilled in the use of MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint at an intermediate level. Skilled in working with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, trigonometry and algebra. Skilled in applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Experience solving practical problems and dealing with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Experience interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Work under different climatic conditions. Experience following established procedures to performing tasks that are routine in nature, requiring some evaluation, originality or ingenuity. Understanding in the fundamentals of wine chemistry, wine microbiology and viticulture practices. Compensation :
Hiring Salary Range Posted: $67,000.00- $100,400.00 Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
