Innovate to solve the worlds most important challenges Summary Performs specialized payroll functions and recommends and implements solutions to payroll problems. Duties and Responsibilities Processes all payroll activities for semi-monthly salary payroll and acts as a back-up for hourly weekly payroll. Prepares payroll journal entries and reconciles account balances with appropriate records. Resolves employees questions and concerns including timesheet issues, deductions, tax changes, and pay. Ensures adherence to time keeping policies. Processes all payments for relocation expenses. Coordinates accounting methods related to payroll and recommends and implements improvements in departmental
procedures. Performs liaison activities with accounting management, internal and external customers. Reviews and analyzes payroll data for compliance with policies, procedures, laws, regulations and DOE orders. Assists in
training personnel in various payroll routines and procedures Analyzes financial system output and initiates corrections as required. May perform other duties as required. Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of employees, the public, and the environment. Takes actions necessary to "stop" work when an
unsafe condition or action is identified. Every employee has the right and responsibility to stop work when unsafe
conditions or actions are identified. YOU MUST HAVE Bachelors Degree or an additional two years of applied experience in lieu of bachelors degree. Five (5) or more years of experience in payroll, accounting or an applied business function US Citizenship required to enable ability to obtain and maintain US government security clearance. WE VALUE BS degree in accounting preferred. Additional college courses in Accounting or 4 1/2 years in a lower level Accounting position is also preferred. Knowledge of general accounting or payroll methods and practices normally acquired through a degree in accounting
or equivalent formal education and experience. Proficiency in computer software; ability to quickly analyze complex financial information and initiate/recommend
