The Back Office for Organizing in Michigan, LLC Full-time Operations Manager About the Back Office for Organizing in Michigan (BOOM)
BOOM LLC is an organization that provides the backend finance, administrative and HR service functions for our network of organizations. Founded by leaders from 482Forward, the Michigan Education Justice Coalition, and the Urban Core Collective, BOOM is envisioned as a backoffice hub to meet the growing needs of base building organizations, allowing them to focus on programmatic and organizing priorities.
Position Overview The Operations Manager reports directly to the Managing Director to lead human resources administration, nonprofit operations, and other organizational functions at BOOM and within the BOOM Network. Supervisory duties may also be required for this position.
Responsibilities
The following responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. Human Resources (50%)
Working with the Managing Director, manage all HR administrative processes ( payroll, benefits, salary ranges, hiring & onboarding) for all employees.
Compliance and Risk Management (10%)
Working with key staff and legal counsel, support the building and implementation of policies, systems and practices that help ensure compliance with a variety of intersecting laws.
Manage systems and processes related to risk management and legal compliance, such as insurance and political reporting. Track and report lobbying, partisan, and other reported activities for various organizations. Partner Support (30%)
Build and maintain relationships with partner organizations to effectively manage partner organizations' requests for backend support through the Help Desk related to HR/admin, finance, development, tech, and compliance. 
Other Duties (10%)
Support and participate in other BOOM programs and organization-wide activities as needed. This position may also include spending time on organizational-wide (such as electoral campaigns) and fundraising tasks as determined by organizational priorities and your supervisor.

Additionally, we are looking for someone who is:
Knowledgeable about general management: Has a thorough understanding of finance, systems, and HR; has broad experience with the full range of business functions and systems, including strategic development and planning, budgeting, business analysis, finance, information systems, human resources, and marketing Organized and detail-oriented: Takes initiative and pays attention to detail; builds and maintains systems that help them and others stay organized; understands the need for and is meticulous about documentation; has strong project management skills  Relationship-oriented: Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with all stakeholders in the course of the work Problem-solver: Is able to act and react as necessary, even if limited information is available; is not afraid to take charge and leadership in challenging and difficult situations; adapt to changing conditions and needs; uses initiative and sound independent judgment Communicative: Has effective, thoughtful and compassionate written and verbal communication skills; is able to adapt communication to different audiences and situations; is able to develop clear and concise written communication Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with managing and scaling efficient operational infrastructure, understanding different fiscal entities (including 501c3, 501c4, PAC, LLC), building and sustaining healthy relationships with movement organizations, anticipating organizational needs in an ever-changing environment, and a demonstrated ability to both lead and build the capabilities of the staff team. Experience in a values-driven organization.  Relevant work experience in human resources, operations, and/or organizational management. Experience with Human Resource Management Softwares, QuickBooks, Air Table, Excel/Google Sheets, and GDrive. Physical Demands
Ability to work on a computer, including sitting at a desk, for extended periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation.  Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard and other equipment  Ability to see or read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids. Ability to speak clearly and in audible tones on the phone and in person and be understood by others. Ability to hear and understand speech at typical levels and on the telephone. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Work Environment
This position is currently remote, but in person meetings may be required in Detroit, Grand Rapids, and/or other parts of Michigan up to once per week.  Compensation
This position is a full-time, exempt position with a salary range of $55,000 - $65,000 depending on experience.  We offer a competitive health benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, and a generous paid time off schedule. Applications will be reviewed as received.
