The Alumni Association of the University of Michigan is hiring for an Assistant Food Service and Housekeeping Director to assist in the management of aspects of Michigania food service and housekeeping operations.

Assist in the hiring, training, and management of all food service and housekeeping staff for summer and off season programs. Assist in the management of all aspects of summer food service, focusing on customer experience, staff training and morale, food quality and utilization. Assist in food service office administration including payroll, food ordering, food deliveries, etc.  Oversee dining room manager and hosts including filling in for their duties as needed.  Coordinate housekeeping, focusing on customer experience and staff training, and creating efficiencies in process. Serve as a housekeeper including cleaning cabins utilizing cabin cleaning standards. This includes cleaning cabin common areas, units, showers, toilets, etc.  Oversee food service and housekeeping operations in the absence of the food service director. General Duties Provide organizational leadership by demonstrating AAUM core values: All In, Serving Heart and Solution Seeker, and helping other staff members demonstrate those values. Value and embrace different identities and diversity of thought recognizing that everyone has unique and different experiences that contribute to the best solution seeking and success for AAUM.  Work with AAUM staff members to gain a clear and consistent understanding of the details of the strategic plan and feel equal ownership of every piece of it, including pieces for which there is no direct responsibility. Be inclusive and collaborative with every other member of the staff and every other team. Operate as a critical contributing member of the staff to complete objectives in many different areas in order to move the whole organization toward the strategic plan. Support University Relations efforts by demonstrating AAUM value to campus units/partners (i.e., schools/colleges, campuses). Continually build digital skill sets in order to implement into work. Staff and participate in team meetings, Alumni Association events that may be during evenings or weekends, and staff retreats including offsite, overnight staff retreats at Camp Michigania. Provide staff support to the Alumni Association's Board of Directors, its committees, and other volunteers as needed. Coordinate special projects as assigned or required. Participate in Alumni Association and other University committees as required. Share knowledge through internal communication. Support the Alumni Association's vision of creating a place of belonging for all alumni. Remain current with respect to technology and the University's educational resources. Supervision Received : Direct supervision is received from the Food Service Manager.
Supervision Exercised : Direct supervision is exercised over the Michigania seasonal food service and housekeeping staff.
A high school diploma is required and at least three years of food service management experience is required. A Servsafe Certification is required.  Attention to detail, and ability to work on several different projects simultaneously is required. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment is required. Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise judgment in setting work priorities is required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral) are required. Knowledge and experience with the computer and its basic software is required. Supervisory experience is required. This position is located in Boyne City, MI, and requires evening, holiday, and weekend work.   AAUM welcomes applications from people of all abilities.
