About the Anti-Recidivism Coalition

The mission of the Anti-Recidivism Coalition (ARC) is to change lives and create safe, healthy communities by providing a support and advocacy network for, and comprised of, formerly incarcerated men and women to accomplish this mission. ARC advocates for fair policies in the juvenile and criminal justice systems and provides a supportive network of reentry services to formerly incarcerated individuals. Learn more at: www.antirecidivism.org.

A critical part of ARC's work is in providing support to women incarcerated in and returning home from the criminal justice system to live healthy, both physically and mentally, socially connected, and prosocial lives. Since it was founded in 2013, ARC has provided life coaching, mentoring, therapeutic, occupational, and educational support to its women members, in an affirming space dedicated to their particular needs.

Position Summary

Women transitioning home from incarceration face a variety of challenges through which they need dedicated support. In addition to facing the challenges of community reentry, including overcoming the trauma and stigma of incarceration, women also need support working through the challenges of pre-incarceration trauma, reuniting with their families, and post-incarceration syndrome.

The coordinator will support, uplift, and help create a women centered space within ARC, dedicated to diversity of all women. They will ensure women's voices are amplified in all areas of ARC including, but not limited to Advocacy and Community Organizing, Member Services, LA County Juvenile System support, outward-facing social media and other mediums, mentorship through in-reach, and creative opportunities as they relate to the Women's Department.

The ideal candidate for this position has both lived experience and demonstrated experience in supporting formerly incarcerated women from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and life choices. This position requires full and thorough knowledge of the specific and unique needs of this community. The coordinator will work to identify resources to fully support women in this often male-centered reentry space. This position will be supervised by the ARC's Assistant Deputy Director.
