JOB SUMMARY
The warehouse maintenance mechanic is responsible for providing general maintenance work to both Sayreville buildings. Repair, maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, dock doors and levelers, facility machines, racks, stretch wrap equipment, HVACs and all other building equipment. Follow preventative maintenance schedules for equipment, and buildings. Comply with all good manufacturing practices (GMP), housekeeping and safety practices standards. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to compliance with government regulations, ensuring the safety and security of the building, its contents, and people and management.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform general indoor and outdoor mechanical maintenance.
Execute scheduled preventive maintenance on all facility equipment.
Observe electrical and mechanical devices in operation: detect their function and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
Dismantles devices to gain access to remove and replace defective parts.
Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
Repair or replace defective parts.
Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
Lubricate and clean parts.
Start devices to test their performance.
Plan new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials.
Grant access for future maintenance, avoid unsightly, hazardous, unreliable wiring and ensure consistency to specifications and local electrical codes.
Prepare sketches showing the location of wiring and equipment or follows diagrams or blueprints.
Arrange all mechanical troubleshooting and repairs on all facility equipment.
Complete mechanical and small welding assignments as directed by supervision.
Set up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, welding equipment, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
Initiate purchase requisitions for parts and machines.
Must perform lockout tag out and confined space entry programs set forth by the company.
Maintain and install all required safety equipment.
Provide guidance, training, and assistance to personnel requiring need.
Document any problems of unusual nature and provide remedial action if possible.
Finalize repairs and or preventive maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC).
perform assignments involving carpentry, painting, plumbing, masonry repairs, and basic electrical assignments.
Cut and weld steel structural members.
Contribute general housekeeping support throughout the warehouse.
Report any potential safety hazards, violations or issues immediately.
Follow good manufacturing practice (GMP) related to personal hygiene and handling of equipment to maintain hygiene standards.
Communicate effectively with co-workers and supervision.
Complete preventative maintenance assignments on equipment, and buildings.
Assure compliance of all company and local, state and federal regulatory agencies (i.e., OSHA and FDA) policies and regulations.
Confer with supervisors and/or piers to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
Regularly interact and communicate with various internal departments to provide vital information that may be necessary to meet business demands.
Suggest efficiency ideas, cost reduction measures and assist with the implementation of changes within the facility.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
Experience
3 years of maintenance experience in warehouse and/or manufacturing environment.
Basic electrical course preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
Must possess a valid state Drivers license and provide proof of liability coverage meeting company standards.
Obtain a powered industrial equipment certification from Sysco within 3 months.
Complete a Sysco guest supply approved defensive driving program.
Professional Skills
Ability to operate powered industrial equipment, including scissor lift and articulated lift equipment preferred.
Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and professional interactive skills are necessary to perform at a high degree of proficiency.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, equipment manuals, blueprints, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.
Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Effectively present information and respond to questions from management and inter-department staff.
Capable of working with peers and associates from other departments proactively and constructively.
Successfully engage and lead individual and team discussions and meetings.
Can add, subtract, multiply and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Outstanding organizational and project management skills, including the ability to execute multiple initiatives autonomously.
Provide effective training to department staff in areas such as standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety, conduct, etc.
Apply all relevant policies in a consistent, timely and objective manner.
Prioritize and manage multiple priorities/deadlines and shift priorities as necessary.

Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook) preferred.
Can learn and apply guest packaging/supply technology software and programs.
Working knowledge of environmental regulations/legislation and governing bodies.

Work Environment
Primarily work in a warehouse/manufacturing environment.
This position will require travel.
Limited overnight travel required and specifically pertains to company events, staff meetings, training sessions and vendor fairs.
May be required to utilize personal vehicles for business travel that may result in long periods of sitting.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
This position may require evening and weekend work depending on business needs.
May be required to move different package sizes, maintenance tools, power tools, equipment, parts, etc. and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, dust, airborne particles, fumes, lubricants, cleaning products, cold and elevated ambient temperature, and outside weather conditions.
