This role is located inPittsburgh, PA, and will work a Hybrid schedule (3 days per week in-office required).  Candidate must reside within a commutable distance to this work location, as we are unable to accommodate 100% virtual work arrangements. In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:May also be responsible for requirements gathering and BRD/SRD preparationHas thorough knowledge of the Software Development Life CycleConducts reviews of the test Plan and test Data The job holder leads the technical design, development and documentation of cross-functional, multi-platform application systemsAnalyzes, defines and documents requirements for data, workflow, and logical processes and interfaces with other systemsEnsures that expected application performance levels are achieved by coordinating, coding, testing, implementation and documentationProgramming well-designed, testable, efficient codeDevelop flowcharts, layouts and documentation to satisfy requirements and solutionsMaintain software functionality and currency (technical debt and gain)Actively participate in code reviewsIntegrate software components into a fully functional software systemApply security and privacy principlesExecute full lifecycle software developmentTroubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systemsEnsure software is updated with latest featuresParticipate in deployment process following all change controlsProvide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platformsUse learning tools to complete both recommended and aspirational targets set in personal development plansLeverage existing products/functionality and promote reuseWork alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practicesCollaborate closely with all the other members of the team to take shared responsibility for the overall efforts that the team has committed toCollaborate cross-functionally with data engineers, business users, project managers and other engineers to achieve elegant solutionsCompiles documentation written by more senior developers of all procedures used in systemTo be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required5-7 years of experience in software development requiredExperience in the securities or financial services industry is a plusFamiliarity with SWIFT Network and messagingAbility to work in a group with other developers to accomplish a common goalDevelop new functionality and enhancements to established servicesPerform upkeep of existing systems (resolve risks or vulnerabilities, upgrade software, and close technical debt)Integrate with Code Quality tools (Veracode, SonarQube,…)Actively participate in code reviews (as both the reviewer and reviewee)Integrate new software components into a fully functional software systemInteract with users to review requirements and solutions during the development lifecycleTroubleshoot and debug potential issuesContinue to learn through a combination of virtual training and on-the-job experienceThe following combined technical skills are highly desired for this role:Core technology:Java, Angular, Spring, Spring BootSecondary:HTML, JSON, XML, JavaScript, NodeJS, CSS, Python, Ionic (mobile development)Additional:Oracle, Vertica, ElasticSearch, Kafka, IBM MQWell-versed in scrum and agile methodologiesKnowledgeable with GitLab, Docker, CI/CD pipeline, container deployments, JIRAAt BNY Mellon, our inclusive culture speaks for itself.
