Responsibilities
• Perform transmission repair as outlined on repair order• Diagnose cause of malfunction• Remove and disassemble transmission unit• Examine vehicle for additional safety or service work• Advise service advisor of additional work or repairs• Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts• Save and tag parts under warranty or customer request• Install repaired transmission and make adjustments• Road test vehicle when required or refer to test technician• Document work performed and recommended on repair order• Attend manufacturer-sponsored training classes
Requirements
• Experience in transmission repair• Knowledge of manufacturer technical bulletins• Ability to supervise apprentice technicians• Accountability for dealership-owned tools and manuals• Compliance with federal, state, and local regulations• Operate tools and equipment in a safe manner
