To this end, the EHS & Training Specialist supports this mission by ensuring employee health and safety and coordinating organization compliance with quality, safety and environmental programs and regulations.
Compensation and Benefits: Pay Range: $62,281.25 to 89,685.00 annually, depending on qualifications.

Work Schedule: The EHS & Training Specialist will match the current schedule of the Production team and this may vary depending on the Production work week but is typically a 4-10 schedule: Monday through Thursday, 7 am to 6 pm.
Key duties and responsibilities include: Chair Synergy's Employee Safety Council
Organize and facilitate monthly Council meetings.
Manage cross-functional, rotational membership.
Facilitate the Council's charter of advancing safety awareness, practice, and results among all employees at Synergy in a prioritized way.
Work cross-functionally with other departments to ensure their adherence to critical safety policies and standards.
Establish and maintain working relationships and contact information with local community safety-related agencies and individuals: fire, police, medical/health services, etc.
Select appropriate employee safety and food safety training from the Alchemy software or otherwise and coordinate with the People & Culture department on which training will be included in monthly training sessions.
Maintain and help facilitate the onboarding "Food Safety and Personnel Safety" training for new Synergy employees prior to them entering controlled manufacturing areas.
Coordinate organizational compliance with local, state, federal and industry safety regulations, and standards, e.g., Volunteer Respirator program, lock-out/tag-out, fire safety, dust combustion, etc.
Plan, coordinate, train and run safety exercises (fire drills) per internal and industry standards.
Track company-wide safety metrics.
Manage and lead Synergy's safety assessments and inspections.
Verify employee training for training matrix completion using Synergy's internal training tools.
Periodically, arrange for internal or external trainers for personnel safety or sanitation.
When leading training events, coordinate materials and facilities for training sessions, including handouts, supplies, technology, and virtual or physical conference rooms.
Maintain records of Quality-related and auditable training activities, monitor program effectiveness, and recommend improvements. Track and report on employee participation or assessment results.
Maintain training records for external audits and regulatory compliance. Coordinate record-keeping with the Quality & Regulatory department
Maintain Synergy's environmental compliance by managing, administering, and executing Synergy's environmental monitoring program, including sampling and shipping for testing.
Work cross-functionally with other departments to ensure their adherence to critical environmental work and standards.
Continually improve and update the internal standards and documentation defining Synergy's environmental monitoring program.
Share and explore findings with the Director of Quality & Regulatory Affairs to discover areas of concern or improvement.
Design, compile, internally publish, present, and archive regular reports of findings, actions, and improvements.
Contribute environmental monitoring system information to Synergy's B Corp certification efforts.
Maintain complete, organized, and accurate records.
Requirements: Our ideal candidate will be comfortable using a computer, have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, can manage multiple priorities and projects, is adaptable and willing to actively participate in improvement, can demonstrate professionalism and a high level of respect for others.
Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, legally authorized to work in the United States, and possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
Candidate must also be able to read, write, speak, listen, and comprehend English proficiently as to ensure the safe and effective performance of the job.
Physical requirements involve occasional light lifting, and periods of standing, sitting, and walking, requiring moderate physical activity.
This position is based in Moab, Utah, and candidates must be able to work on-site. A flexible, hybrid work schedule may be considered for the right candidate.
