Position Summary & Responsibilities: Position Summary: This System Software Supervisor position is located in Topeka, at the Eisenhower State Office Building, and is within the Office of Information Technology Services (OITS). This position supervises the field Tech Support staff in Districts One, Two, and Four, and performs specialized and complex consulting and leadership for the districts' IT staff. The System Software Supervisor advises, coordinates, and assists OITS and Division Headquarters staff and field Tech Support staff in the operation, performance, maintenance, troubleshooting, planning, and upgrading of KDOT systems, including the Ethernet System, computers, computer operating systems, multiple network operating systems, telecommunications software programming and analysis, network-based messaging system software, computer-aided drafting software, and other network or PC-based hardware and software. This position also serves as an advisor to State and KDOT Headquarters OITS staff on IT issues and decisions and the impact to field offices statewide.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Successful completion of 24 hours in computer science coursework or certification and four years of experience in system software programming and analysis OR Five years of experience in system software programming and analysis or database implementation and maintenance. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. Transcripts are required for education to be considered. Valid Driver's License at time of appointment. Preferred Qualifications: Five years of solid understanding of desktop operating systems (Windows), hardware components, software applications, and networking fundamental. Ability to adapt and willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies as they emerge. Two years of supervisory or management experience. Customer service attitude. Continuous improvement mindset. Education: Four-year college degree is preferred.
