POSITION OVERVIEWThe SXEW Supervisor I is responsible for safety, environmental compliance, production, costs, quality, people and projects in the SXEW operations department.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSProvide safety leadership and responsibility in the SXEW. Report all incidents. Know, understand and enforce all applicable local, state and federal health and safety regulations. Ensure environmental compliance in the SXEW. Report all incidents. Know, understand and enforce all applicable local, state and federal environmental regulations. Monitor all SXEW Plant activities when on shift, including Leaching, SX and EW. Ensure an effective line-out to the incoming shift. This includes ensuring the logbooks are accurate and complete. Help meet and maintain copper cathode production targets at Silver Bell. Review and interpret plant data and make good operating decisions. Help meet and maintain operating costs for the SXEW. Responsible for all aspects of quality, including cathode quality, internal and external customer satisfaction, quality processes/procedures, quality equipment/tools and quality people. Direct and support the activities of the people on shift. Help develop, train and educate employees for future growth and promotion. This includes those employees who serve as mark-up supervisors. Work in partnership with the Laboratory, Plant Maintenance and Electrical departments to optimize safety, environmental compliance, production, costs, and quality in order to make the SXEW department successful. Work in partnership with the Mine and Engineering Departments, and all other departments at Silver Bell to optimize safety, environmental compliance, production, costs and quality. Work in partnership with the Union to ensure effective and efficient plant operation. Effectively administer department and company policies and procedures. Help develop and implement capital and operating projects to improve the SXEW operation, Silver Bell and Company performance. Responsible for executing, supporting, and enforcing the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety program as required by OIS policy, directives, and principles. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIESMust have good technical knowledge of copper leaching, solvent extraction and electrowinning process. Must demonstrate the highest commitment to health and safety. Must demonstrate the highest commitment to environmental compliance. Must demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills with employees, other supervisors and managers. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEHigh School Diploma/General Education Diploma (GED). Four (4) years of leaching and SXEW experience or equivalent. Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience. Other Requirements:Must possess a valid driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record. Must be medically qualified to wear a respirator and able to obtain a satisfactory fit test for respirators. Must be able to walk over rough terrain, sit, climb ladders and stairs, squat, kneel for extended periods of time. Work environment is outdoors and indoors, working at extreme temperatures, weather conditions and may be exposed to chemicals and explosives. A core value of ASARCO LLC is "Safety First."
