Switcher / Rail Operator

Job Title : Switcher/Rail Operator - 3rd Shift Department / Division : NA Logistics Transportation / Distribution Paygrade : NXA 12 Location : Ada, MI What do we need: We are looking for a Switcher/Rail Operator to join our team in our First Mile Logistics Team. This position will work on 3rd shift, with the hours being from 11:00 pm - 7:00 am Sunday night through Thursday.
What's special about this job: The First Mile Logistics Team provides customer focused support in our yard, rail and truck processing operations. This collaborative team supports all transportation related activities across a 4-shift operation. As a member of this team, you will support equipment movement in the rail/yard while supplementing dispatch and truck processing transactions.
How you would contribute to the role: The team is seeking an individual who is looking to build off of their truck driving experience and start to cross-train to support office tasks as well. As a Hybrid Switcher, you will be responsible for supporting yard trailer movement, performing safety checks, and occasionally performing as a Shuttle Wagon operator and brakeman for the movement of railcars. In the office, you will be responsible for JDE and AS400 Trailer Tracking system entries, dispatching support, and external carrier check in/out transactions.
Required qualifications: High school diploma Prior switching experience CDL License Skills to be successful in the role: Strong attention to detail/safety and a high level of accuracy Expedient and friendly customer service skills Flexibility to work alternate shift assignments to cover vacation/comp, sick days along with occasional holidays Mechanical aptitude and ability to notice issues with Switcher, Shuttle Wagon, trailers, containers and railcar equipment The ability and willingness to work in all types of weather Moderate computer skills / knowledge (AS400 Trailer Tracking/JDE, MercuryGate) This role is not eligible for sponsorship.
