MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Accounting experience or knowledge in fund accounting. Strong, effective communication skills, both oral & written. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all levels of personnel and other stakeholders. Ability to analyze accounting data, prepare and interpret financial data and reports. Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize tasks. Proficient with accounting software programs & Microsoft Office programs including strong Excel skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Minimum 2 years of experience in school finance. Experience with federal grants and the required single audit. Proficiency with AS400 financial software. Demonstrated supervisory skills.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain all financial ledgers in accordance with Bulletin 1022. Monitor expenditures to ensure adherence to adopted budget and district policies and guidelines. Work with grant coordinators to develop budgets, request grant draw downs, and report final expenditures. Coordinate the receipting, deposit, posting and reporting of all district revenues. Monitor and manage cash flow, investments and cash flow borrowing schedules. Arrange bank transfers, process tax refunds, and post journal entries. Perform monthly financial activities, including bank reconciliations, review of balance sheet accounts, month-end close, preparing financial reports and budget analyses. Assist in establishing methods and procedures for the efficient and effective operation of the Business Office according to standard accounting practices and procedures. Develop and implement automated solutions to accounting tasks and functions. Develop and monitor use of internal control systems. Coordinate annual audit; prepare schedules including the Schedule of Federal Awards (SEFA) and address auditor inquiries. Assist with all State and Federal reporting, included but not limited to the following: FID, Special Education, Transportation, Vocational Education and Final Expenditure/Program Reports. Provide support training of business operations to district staff. Perform other duties as assigned.
