About Camp ¡Exprésate! Act, Sing, Dance, Create! Let your story come to life through the art of acting, music, movement, and design at Camp ¡Exprésate!, CCAE Theatricals' one-of-a-kind Creative Youth Development theatre camp for beginner and intermediate level 2nd-4th graders.
Exprésate means Express Yourself. At Camp ¡Exprésate!, we do that every day, in every way. In a ratio of 10:1 for instructional periods, campers create theatre, music, dance, and scenery with
passionate teaching artists who guide them on a journey of self-expression and learning. No matter campers' exposure to the performing arts, Camp ¡Exprésate! has a place for everyone! Campers also work closely with their Camp Counselor, whose main job is to create a positive, safe, and fun experience for their group of campers.
With others in their age group, campers will enjoy rotations of instruction and creation in music-making, acting, dancing, and improvisation, all with the goal of empowering them to tell stories and express themselves. There are built-in opportunities to play, create, perform, and build connections with peers.
TIME FRAME: Pre-camp: 
Online Orientation Week of June 3rd, on Zoom (date/time TBD)
In-person Setup Day Saturday, 6/9/24: 9 am-3:30 pm

Camp dates and times: Week 1: June 10-14 (7:15 am - 4:45 pm)
Week 2: June 17-21 (7:15 am - 4:45 pm)
POSITION OVERVIEW: We are seeking enthusiastic and creative individuals to join our team as Summer Camp Counselors for ¡Camp Exprésate! As a camp counselor, you will be responsible for providing a safe and engaging environment for campers while fostering their love for the performing arts. You will work closely with campers in 2nd to 4th grade to develop a camp community and transition them throughout the day to various Teaching Artists specializing in acting, singing, dancing, and design. As the leader of your team of campers, you will be in charge of their logistics throughout the day, ensuring timely transitions to and from rotations. You will guide them through various theatre and non-theatre activities like ice-breakers, get-to-know-you games, and skits/songs. 
This position reports to the Camp Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times. Support Teaching Artists in the facilitation of theatre-related activities, including acting workshops, improvisation games, vocal exercises, dance rehearsals, and script writing/reading. Collaborate with other counselors and camp staff to implement a comprehensive and exciting camp curriculum. Assist campers in the development of their acting skills, character-building, and stage presence. Foster a positive and inclusive environment where campers can express themselves creatively and build self-confidence. Help organize rehearsals for the final showcase, including assisting with blocking, line memorization, and stage management. Provide constructive feedback and support to campers, encouraging their growth and progress. Assist in the preparation and execution of end-of-camp performances and showcases. Encourage teamwork, collaboration, and respect among campers, promoting a supportive community. Ensure campers follow camp rules and guidelines, and address any behavioral or disciplinary issues in a fair and appropriate manner. Communicate effectively with campers' parents or guardians, providing updates on camp activities and addressing any concerns. Maintain a clean and organized theatre camp environment, including the upkeep of office and rehearsal spaces. Attend staff meetings and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills related to camp operations and theatre education. QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent Previous experience working with children or in a camp setting Ability to create a positive and inclusive environment that encourages creativity and personal growth. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to and engage with campers of various ages, experience levels, and cultural backgrounds. Strong organizational and time management abilities to plan and execute camp activities effectively. Patience, flexibility, and adaptability to accommodate the needs and interests of individual campers. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. However, reasonable accommodations can be made to help the employee perform tasks successfully. Must be able to regularly move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally move 20 pounds. The employee is regularly required to either remain stationary or move throughout the building offices or rehearsal spaces.  The employee should be able to communicate via speech, text, or other means.
