23-24 Substitute Special Education Assistant (SEA) District Wide COMPENSATION: Hourly Pay rate: $17.76

Essential Duties - Substitutes provide support in the accepted assignment. The following are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other responsibilities may be required and assigned.
Substitute Special Education Assistant (SEA): Provide instructional academic, behavioral support Implement academic and behavioral intervention strategies across environments Assist with monitoring and implementing positive behavior strategies in dealing with student behavior Transfers, apply adaptive devices, tube feedings, diapering, and provide bathroom assistance and mobility training. Maintain student confidentiality, including written records. Provide supervision during lunch, recess, playground, hallways, ect Participate in on-the-job training and district level training. Assist with loading and unloading school buses. Ability to work independently with students in school, community, vocational, and domestic situations under the direction of a teacher. Ability to keep accurate student data. Ability to work with physically aggressive students. Ability to work with students who are nonverbal or who do not have intelligible speech. Ability to follow teacher direction, written plans, individual education programs, and behavior intervention plans. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse population of students, staff and community, both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain student confidentiality. Ability to walk, lift (up to 50 lbs.), climb, bend, reach, and kneel. Ability to learn and use basic computer skills (e-mail, internet, word processing). Must be mature, patient and compassionate when working with all students. Experience working cross-culturally and/or commitment to work toward improving one's own cultural competence., i.e. valuing difference/diversity, recognizing personal limitations in one's skills and expertise, and having the desire to learn in these areas. Minimum Qualifications: Hold an active State of WI Special Education Aide certification MMSD will pay for this certification fee Desired Qualifications Bilingual in English and Hmong and/or Spanish At least an Associate's Degree or 48 academic credits beyond high school. Next Steps:
Human Resources will review your information and invite you to provide 2-3 references if you meet minimum qualifications. Pending feedback from the references you may be invited to complete the onboarding process. Passing onboarding is a contingency of employment. If there has been more than a 90 day break in service please know completing onboarding is a requirement.
