Job summary
Performs responsible unskilled housekeeping and custodial work in the care and cleaning of the school system buildings.Cleans floors, walls, windows, and bathrooms.Moves furniture, empties trash containers, and straightens up public areas.

Responsibilities
• Performs housekeeping and custodial duties in school system buildings.• Cleans and maintains floors, walls, windows, blinds, fixtures, and bathrooms.• Moves and arranges furniture, empties trash containers, and cleans ash trays.• Assists in maintaining building security and operates heavy floor cleaning equipment.• Performs floor care, including buffing, stripping, and waxing/polishing.• Performs maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.• Removes trash from grounds and parking lots around the building.• Follows oral and/or written instructions.• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships.• Performs related duties as required.
Requirements
• General knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.• General knowledge of routine maintenance requirements.• Ability to identify cleaning needs and address them appropriately.• Ability to perform physical labor and lift heavy objects.• Ability to squat, crouch, climb, bend, stoop frequently.• Ability to understand and follow instructions.• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.• Any combination of training and experience is desired.
