Staff Posting Details Appointment: regular, full-time, (1.0) FTE. Position Summary: The Student Success Coach (one of two) will work directly with students to assist them in resolving academic and personal challenges that may present barriers to their success at the University of Puget Sound. The Student Success Coach will work collaboratively with colleagues across departments to provide appropriate resources and ongoing support to students, and will track their progress toward established goals. The Student Success Coach will serve on the university's CARE team and participate in ongoing case management for students of concern using the Maxient platform. The Student Success Coach will create and implement workshops and programming focused around increasing student persistence toward graduation. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities: Direct Student Support (70%) Work directly with students to create success plans tailored to their individual needs and assist them in tracking progress toward their goals, both academic and personal. Assist students in developing problem solving, time management, and inter-personal skills that can assist them in navigating academic and personal challenges on campus, and encourage connections with the community. Work with faculty and student support offices (Academic Advising, Office of the Registrar, SFS, etc.) to connect students with specialized support. Support students through a diversity, equity, and inclusion framework that validates their identities in a culturally competent manner. Perform ongoing wellness checks for students of concern and work with colleagues across campus to address student needs. Offer limited consultation regarding campus policies related to other offices including residence life, academic advising, and accessibility, and others, connecting students with appropriate offices for further support when necessary. Work to ensure that all Puget Sound students have equitable access to success, with special attention to first generation students, international students, and those from underrepresented and minoritized populations. Case Management (20%) Log and manage all relevant information on student cases through the Maxient system. Coordinate with colleagues in other departments to provide necessary resources and assist in resolving student issues. Track student progress toward established goals and assist in ensuring that students are connected with adequate support and are in compliance with expectations. Serve on the university's CARE team. Student Success and Retention (10%) Create programming aimed at increasing the personal and academic success of current students. Develop, maintain, and evaluate systems to encourage student persistence toward graduation. Identify policies and procedures that present barriers to student success, and work with necessary teams to improve systems to maximize student retention. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree required with at least two years of professional experience working in direct student support, academic advising, mentoring, counseling, social work, or similar fields.Strong understanding of higher education systems including Demonstrated ability to handle confidential student information in compliance with FERPA.Experience in providing support to individuals from a variety of socioeconomic, racial, ethnic, and educational backgrounds, and with varying abilities. Ability to build and nurture professional relationships that encourage trust and collaboration with students, staff members, and faculty.Outstanding written and oral communication skills and demonstrated problem-solving ability.Knowledge of and ability to teach learning techniques, motivational skills, time management tools, and other student-focused skills.Demonstrated conflict resolution skills and teamwork.Experience with learning new technological systems and implementing them to advance goals.Ability to respectfully work, communicate and provide leadership within a diverse campus community Compensation and Benefits : The range for this position is $40,000 - $50,000 annually. Decisions about starting salaries are made based on the extent and relatedness of the candidate's education and experience and on internal equity and market considerations.
