Job Description:Summary:The person in this position will work with multidisciplinary project teams providing structural engineering and related technical expertise. Assignments may include design and analysis, preparing plans and specifications, report writing, cost estimating, and construction observation. The work will primarily involve hydropower facilities, wind turbine foundations, and industrial processing facilities such as power plants, mining facilities, and other heavy industrial facilities. The work may require short-term, out-of-town work assignments. All applicants should include transcripts with their application.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a structural emphasis (including structural analysis and steel and concrete design)Familiarity with AutoCAD, word processing, and spreadsheet softwareStrong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clientsStrong technical and problem-solving skillsAttention to detail, accuracy, and completenessA flexible working style and a willingness to modify personal schedule as required to meet deadlines and/or client needsSuperior task management skills including scheduling, prioritizing, and following upValid driver's license and acceptable driving recordLegal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the futurePreferred Qualifications:Master's degree in civil engineering with a structural emphasis.Experience with structural engineering analysis software such as STAAD Pro, RISA 3D, or MathCADExperience with 3D software such as RevitField or construction observation experienceStrong technical skills in a wide range of structural analysis and designEngineer-in-Training (EIT) certified or ability to obtain within one yearA hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota, office.NOTE: Some work locations may feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and may also require entering and working in facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. Safety training will be provided.
