In this position… Ford is seeking to fill a Steering System Engineer position in Dearborn, Michigan. The Steering System Engineering position involves development, validation, and vehicle integration of steering systems into Ford Motor Company vehicles. Responsibilities What you'll do… Lead Functional Requirement implementation, validation, and vehicle integration of Electric Power Steering (EPS) Systems with a focus on ensuring overall safe system/vehicle operation. Perform/Lead EPS System implementation design reviews and analysis including system functionality, electro-mechanical hardware reviews, electrical architecture, Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA), and fault management & diagnostic strategies Ensure Functional Safety (ISO-26262) is met with the system design and validation Manage steering supplier to achieve program milestone deliverables for the overall system function Conduct vehicle level testing for system validation Lead issue investigations including vehicle data collection and root cause analysis Collaborate with Vehicle Engineering and Driver Assistance Feature Engineers to ensure optimal steering and feature performance Collaborate with Steering Software Engineer to deliver EPS system to program milestones Qualifications You'll have... Minimum BS Engineering- Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering or strongly related Good communications and project management skills Strong leadership skills, passion for quality, passion to improve customer satisfaction Natural and comfortable with high levels of a multi-functional collaboration Effective teamwork skills Even better, if you have … Preferred MS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering or strongly related Experience applying Systems Engineering Familiarity with Vector CANAPE and CANalyzer MATLAB and Simulink a definite plus Troubleshooting experience with electromechanical systems Prior D&R experience with proven track record of successful program delivery Experience developing and executing test plans Experience applying engineering disciplines for failure mode avoidance Familiarity with ISO-26262 Demonstrated proficiency with CAN communication and databases You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!
