Minimum Qualifications: Terminal degree required. Additional professional licensure and/or certification in the field may be required.
Preferred Qualifications: -JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school is required.
-Either admission to the Georgia Bar or the ability to gain admission to the Georgia Bar within 2 years of starting the position.-Preference will be given to candidates who have obtained accreditation as a veterans attorney from the Department of Veterans Affairs. Position Summary: The Clinic represents veterans and their dependents with claims for benefits from the Veterans Administration and from the branches of military service. The Clinic represents veterans throughout Georgia, with a particular focus on those in rural areas. The Clinic enrolls between 6-12 law students every semester and includes undergraduate veterans in the clinic's work.
The staff attorney will work under the direction of the Director of the Clinic to represent veterans, supervise students, and build the Clinic's practice. The staff attorney will be attorney of record on claims from the VA and other agencies, discharge upgrades from the military, and other forms of relief from the VA and elsewhere. The staff attorney will supervise law students and undergraduates. The staff attorney will collaborate on outreach efforts into rural communities throughout Georgia. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies: Possess outstanding skills in litigation and administrative advocacy; excellent written and oral communication abilities; a successful track record of working effectively with veterans and with other vulnerable client populations; and a demonstrated commitment to working with veterans or other under-served populations.
The position expects: an ability to supervise young lawyers effectively; strong organizational and time management skills; and an ability to engage in community education and outreach initiatives. Physical Demands: Traveling.

Duties/Responsibilities: Under the direction of the clinic director, engage in substantial administrative advocacy and related litigation on behalf of veterans, using a clinical practice model, including: supervision of law students working in a team-based setting; review of and feedback on students' written work, client interactions, and advocacy on behalf of clients.

Duties/Responsibilities: Under the direction of the clinic director, assist in managing the clinic's law practice, in developing and engaging outreach to relevant communities of clients and other service providers, and in developing clinic policy and litigation initiatives.
