Position: Special Education Coordinator
Qualifications
• Colorado Department of Education license with special education or specialized service provider endorsement
• Three years of experience as a licensed teacher or licensed provider in special education
• Demonstrated knowledge of special education laws and regulation
• Mentoring or coaching experience in an educational setting
• Must possess a desire to mentor and teach school staff members at all levels
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Ability to demonstrate patience, accountability, flexibility, strong oral and written communication skills and a positive attitude
• Physical requirements include the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force; physical condition to enable walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling; stamina to be on feet and active for full workdays; ability to speak or exchange information in an audible manner
Responsibilities
• Reporting to the School Director, this role will support the school's mission by coordinating the special education process for School students including monitoring timelines, coordinating transfers, evaluation, and re-evaluation
• Train and coach staff in the preparation for and development of IEPs
• Provide leadership and direction for CDE licensed staff and coordinate the induction process for licensed staff
• Provide professional development and coaching to school staff on instructional strategies and the implementation of IEPs for students

Provide leadership and subject matter expertise for staff to embrace the school's mission, vision, and core values
• Conduct classroom observations and provide coaching to staff on instructional strategies and implementation of IEPs
• Promote a learning environment in which all students thrive; where classroom instruction is tailored to students' strengths and needs and preparing students for their next transition
• Lead data collection systems for individual and aggregate student data
• Attend and facilitate Individual Education Program (IEP) meetings when needed
•Monitor special education compliance including annual reviews, reevaluations, transfers, data collection, progress reporting, and post-school planning
• Serve as subject matter expert in the IEP document system, including training staff in use of the system
• Lead a comprehensive selection and implementation of curriculum resources in collaboration with staff
• Provide crisis intervention and support to students and staff when needed
•Seek input and maintain effective communication with staff and community partners
• Participate in the student intake process with the school leadership team; including observations and communication with districts and parents
• Assist with organizational processes and planning
•Assist with daily staffing attendance and classroom staffing needs
