We are seeking a candidate who will be responsible for in vitro cell culture, basic molecular biology, immunoassays, protein expression, purification and characterization. The Maryland R&D site are focusing on the discovery of novel drug candidates for the treatment of cancer, renal, cardiovascular, and immune system diseases. Candidate is expected to maintain good experiment record and participate in lab management. The successful candidate will work directly with corporate partners, cross-functional teams and project teams to support our pre-clinical programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
and develop efficient molecular biology capabilities to generate DNA constructs for transient mammalian cell expression of antibodies and proteins to support therapeutic discovery and engineering efforts
consistent and robust protein expression capabilities for transient 293 and CHO cells that encompass HTP small scale through gram level protein production
antibody characterization utilizing ELISA, Octet or Biacore
in vitro
cell-based experiments using standard immunological, cellular and molecular biology techniques such as Western Blots, PCR/qPCR, ELISA, Luminex, flow cytometry, spectroscopy, and microscopy
key scientific experiments together with project teams
and ability to learn new skills to help contribute to our multi-disciplinary teams
timely communication and presentations to project team and governance body
with general lab management and upkeep including maintenance of biological samples, lab supplies, biological and chemical wastes, and calibration of instruments, in accordance with established guidelines
maintenance of lab records and logs in accordance with the standard practices
related research functions as deemed necessary to support day-to-day functioning of the lab
QUALIFICATIONS
degree in chemical biology, molecular biology, cell biology or equivalent scientific discipline from an accredited college or university with minimal 2 years of relevant experience
or M.S. degree in chemical biology, molecular biology, cell biology or equivalent scientific discipline from an accredited college or university with 10 years (with B.S.) or 5 years (with M.S.) of hands-on laboratory experience in an industrial or academic setting
with various in vitro
and cell-based assay, mammalian cell culture, maintenance of cell lines, transfection, cell-based functional assays, flow cytometry, ELISA, Western Blots and PCR/qPCR
with antibody characterization (LC-MS, HPSEC, Octet, Biacore) highly desired
with ÄKTA
purification system or iQue3 preferred
with GraphPad Prism software
in cloning of antibody into expression vector, display technology, antibody humanization and affinity optimization preferred
in computers with excellent record keeping, documentation and good organizational skills
verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to interpret and understand SOPs and laboratory procedures
analytical with excellent trouble shooting skills
forward thinking and motivated with ability to act independently
