There are great neighborhoods around Phoenix, with easy access to a major city, nature, the arts and many more amenities.DescriptionSupervise, coordinate, provide direction, and advanced problem solving. Review and improve the performance of existing automation systems.Direct or supervise others on moderate to complex issues including mentoring and developing junior EngineersReview and improve performance of discrete, continuous and advanced control equipment and software and identify opportunities to implement process optimization through automationRegular review and improve alarm management systems (alarm rationalization)Participate and represent process automation in HAZOP and other safety and reliability processes and studiesIdentify and troubleshoot specialized, analytical and advanced sensorsKeep track of Process Automation equipment obsolescence and develop plans to replace equipment prior to it becoming obsoleteImplement Process Automation solutions through delegation of workReview and comment on project proposals and verify the quality of project workWork with Expert or APC systems to optimize plantsReview and improve performance of PCS communication and the plant historianPerform other duties as requiredQualificationsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in an Engineering disciplineandfive (5) years of related experience in Engineering relevant to Process Automation or related field,includingthree (3) years of experience with Advance Sensors and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs);ORMaster's degree in an appropriate Engineering disciplineandthree (3) years of related experience in Engineering relevant to Process Automation or related field,includingthree (3) years of experience with Advance Sensors and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)PreferredPrevious supervision experienceElectrical Journeyman TrainingPLC or DCS manufacture's training or certificationExperience in Plant Information or some other data base storage and retrieval systemUnderstanding of science behind comminution, flotation, exothermic reactions and other processes used in mining and mineral beneficiation and processingCriteria/ConditionsAbility to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in EnglishAbility to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standardsMust be able to work in a potentially stressful environmentWork is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particlesWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and seeOccasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the course of the workdayPersonal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as requiredFreeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State LawsWhat We Offer YouThe estimated annual pay range for this role is currently$98,000 - $137,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
