The School of Technologies and Trades at Madison College is seeking a Senior Laboratory Coordinator – Metal Fabrication. This position is integral to the educational experience of students and the smooth functioning of instructional activities. The Senior Laboratory Coordinator – Metal Fabrication provides the necessary administrative and technical assistance to students and faculty in the Metal Fabrication, Welding and Related Metals Programs, offering guidance on techniques including the operation of CNC fabrication equipment and related software. Ensuring adherence to safety policies, preparing lab materials, purchasing tools, equipment, and operational supplies in addition to the tracking inventory while managing the procurement process within budgetary constraints, and maintaining equipment are among the primary responsibilities.
Additionally, the Senior Laboratory Coordinator – Metal Fabrication collaborates with faculty to coordinate the use of lab spaces, and to revise lab manuals to incorporate technological advancements. Preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, and upholding the college's mission and values are essential aspects of this role.
This is a full-time, 52-weeks per year position, general working hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am – 4:30pm.

Assists students and instructors in labs by answering student questions, reviewing/demonstrating techniques including the operation of CNC fabrication equipment and related software. Notifies instructor(s) when students are deviating from established safety polices, practices and methods. Prepares lab materials and models for student projects in consultation with faculty. Coordinates use of laboratory spaces used by multiple instructors (both full-time and part-time); performs lab set-up, clean-up, maintenance, and organization; assists and facilitates communication between full-time and part-time instructors regarding lab usage, tools, equipment, and materials. Revises lab manuals/written procedures with the instructor to keep up with the technology advancements in the field of work. Purchases tools, equipment, and operational supplies using standard, district purchasing procedures while working within budgetary limitations; solicits faculty input regarding such purchases; maintains, periodically reviews, and tracks inventory of operational supplies. Performs preventive maintenance, troubleshoots malfunctions; calls for repairs; and evaluates new equipment and technologies. Maintains a commitment to the college mission, vision, and values. Other duties as defined by department, college, or officials. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Skill in communicating effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing. Demonstrated skill in communications and human relations with populations of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and persons with disabilities. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computer equipment and technology including, but not limited to, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet browsers. Knowledge of the principles and procedures related to manufacturing and/or related trades. Ability to demonstrate the methods, procedures and concepts as taught by instructor. Ability to operate relevant equipment and tools including a forklift and safety rig equipment. Knowledge of safety and design of construction and/or advanced manufacturing equipment, tools, and supplies. Skill in preventative maintenance, diagnostics and service of machinery and equipment relevant to the program. Minimum Requirements:
Associates degree or two-year technical certificate in a manufacturing related program from an accredited institution. OR
Two (2) years (4,000 hours) of an equivalent combination of education and work experience directly related to the skills required for successfully performing this position. (While not a requirement, candidate possessing work experience in an educational lab setting is desirable) And
Two (2) years (4,000 hours) of recent work experience directly related to the technical and communications skills required for successfully performing this position. OSHA 10 certification or ability to obtain within six months of employment. (While not a requirement, candidate possessing Fabricators & Manufacturers Association (FMA) credentials or ability to obtain is desirable) Madison College does not offer H-1B or other work authorization visa sponsorship for this position. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term.
