GENERAL EXPECTATIONS:
The Regional Office of Education has the opportunity to serve the communities of Boone and Winnebago Counties. The School Improvement Department designs services (e.g. training, programs, materials, etc.) for the purpose of implementing school improvement/coaching and mentoring program activities that address the training needs of districts and/or schools.
SUMMARY: The Senior Director of School Support Services is responsible for providing leadership and oversight for the following support services: School Improvement, Professional Learning, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), and School Safety. This role involves managing leaders in each school support services program, overseeing grant writing, conducting needs assessments, participating in state and local committees, evaluating staff performance, overseeing professional development, designing innovative professional development programs, managing the school support network, collaborating on marketing initiatives, data collection, and reporting, and assisting with overseeing the area-wide implementation of the state's SEL initiative, to include REACH and RSSI.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Leadership and Oversight: Provide strategic direction and leadership for the School Improvement, Professional Learning, Social Emotional Learning, and School Safety programs. Manage and support department leaders in each program, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives. Grant Writing: Oversee and/or participate in grant writing efforts to secure funding for programs and initiatives within the School Support Services Department. Needs Assessments: Conduct needs assessments to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to address identified needs. Committee Participation: Represent the organization on state and local committees related to school improvement, professional learning, social emotional learning, and school safety. Staff Evaluations: Develop and implement performance evaluation criteria for staff within the School Support Services Department, ensuring accountability and excellence in service delivery. Professional Development: Oversee the design and implementation of professional development programs for staff, focusing on innovation and best practices in education. School Support Network: Oversee the school support network, ensuring that schools receive the support they need to improve student outcomes. Marketing: Work with the Communications and Marketing Specialists to develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the programs and initiatives of the School Support Services Department. Data Collection and Reporting: Oversee data collection and reporting efforts to track progress and outcomes of programs and initiatives within the School Support Services Department. SEL Initiative Implementation: Provide oversight for the area-wide implementation of the state's SEL initiative, including REACH (Resilience Education to Advance Community Healing) and RSSI (Resilience Support Services Initiative). School Safety Implementation: Provide oversight for the development and implementation of the Regional Safety Team, to include building before, during, and after the crisis programming. Active member of the ROE leadership team Self-starter with a vision and passion for the professional learning of our community Stays current with research, best practices, and developments related to professional learning for adults Designs professional growth opportunities using face-to-face, online, guest speakers, teacher leaders, community leaders, and other innovative methods for supporting the districts'/schools' staff Works closely with the Director of Networks and Partnerships and Director of Systems and Supports to review the needs of and provide assistance to districts and schools Completes District Curriculum and Professional Development Audits yearly for selected districts Schedules and organizes all Administrative Academies, including working with IPA partnership Communicates the goals, plans, and progress of the professional learning program Establishes strong working relationships with school and district staff Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit QUALIFICATIONS: The Regional Superintendent reserves the right to modify any qualifications to ensure the best candidate is chosen to fulfill our mission of service to students, educators, and communities. Master's degree in Education Administration, Educational Leadership, or related field. At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role in education or related field. Knowledge of school improvement, academics, SEL, and school safety best practices. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Experience with grant writing, budget management, and data analysis. Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders. Experience working in a K-12 education setting. Previous experience managing a team of professionals. ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS: Have a very high level of social interaction and team-building skills, as this position will work with many teams Communicate with people face-to face, by phone, virtually, and email on a daily basis Build relationships with ROE staff Work effectively and efficiently in an open office environment Remote work opportunities maybe be possible for specific tasks with approval from Supervisor Prepare for this position to become fast-paced and high-stressed depending upon work-load requirements and deadlines This position may require the employee to be available to work unconventional hours beyond the normal duty day. Term of Employment: Full-time, permanent, 12-month position; start date July 1, 2024 Salary commensurate with experience and/or education Salary: Starting at $105,000, depending on qualifications and experience
