Department: The Human Resources and Strategic Talent Management (HRSTM) department is hiring a Senior Classification and Compensation Specialist. Position Overview: This role will assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of UMBC's Classification and Compensation Programs.

Telework: A hybrid work schedule (2 days telework, 3 in the office) may be available.

Responsibilities: Conducts initial review, job analysis, and job evaluation of new, vacant, and filled position change requests including reclassifications, equity adjustments, in-grade adjustments, acting capacity pay requests, and salary range updates and confirmations. Develops written reports of findings for standard roles and-determines classification and compensation based upon research conducted and the best available balance of evidence.   Assists in the formulation of recommendations regarding the development and updating of salary structures, FLSA exemptions, job revisions, and organizational structures as needed Conducts costing and provides recommendations Completes salary data requests Reviews and approves standard studies independently Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree Five years of general Human Resources experience, at least two related to compensation/classification Advanced experience in Excel with proven ability to analyze complex data sets Strong analytical and data manipulation skills Strong interpersonal and written/ verbal communication skills Proficient knowledge of current compensation practices and trends
Strong customer service skills Preferred Qualifications:  One year of experience the State of MD Classification and Compensation policies One year of experience with the compilation and assessment of salary data Strong customer service skills interacting with senior leadership Experience in creative problem solving related to complex classification/compensation requests Background Screening Statement: A background check will be required.
