Security Operations Center-X is hiring full time or part time  Security Monitoring Specialists . SOC-X is a new security technology company located in Troy, MI. Job Purpose The Security Monitoring Specialist at SOCX is essential in protecting assets, personnel, and clients. This role demands a vigilant individual capable of managing video surveillance systems, alarm monitoring, and other security technologies to maintain operational integrity and respond to incidents swiftly. This position benefits greatly from candidates with basic intelligence capabilities and preferred experience in law enforcement dispatching or other related experience.
Duties & Responsibilities 1. Alarm Monitoring:
Monitor alarms from various systems, including intrusion detection, fire alarms, and access control. Assess alarm events for validity and urgency, taking swift action in line with SOCX procedures. Notify emergency services and client in the event of security breaches or incidents. Collaborate with internal teams to handle false alarms and minimize disruption. 2. Video Surveillance:
Monitor multiple live video feeds from numerous site locations. Identify and respond to suspicious activities, breaches, or security incidents visible on screen. Employ video analytics and software tools to detect potential threats and enhance monitoring effectiveness. Coordinate with on-site and remote teams for immediate response to incidents. 3. Incident Response:
Coordinate and initiate responses to security incidents. Record all incidents, actions taken, and communications following SOCX policies. Conduct post-incident analyses to improve response protocols and identify areas for improvement. 4. Technical Support:
Provide technical support for security systems, including troubleshooting and assisting with system maintenance and upgrades. Work closely with technical teams to ensure the reliability and functionality of security equipment. Report any malfunctions promptly to ensure continuous operation. 5. Basic Intelligence:
Collect and assess intelligence from various sources to recognize potential threats. Prepare and send notifications on gathered intelligence to aid operational decisions. Collaborate with internal and external intelligence teams to stay informed on emerging security trends. 6. Communication:
Maintain clear and concise internal and external communication, both verbal and written. Provide timely updates to management on security incidents and responses. 7. Reporting:
Generate incident reports, daily logs, and performance metrics, ensuring data is accurate and comprehensive. Analyze data trends to identify potential security risks and vulnerabilities. Present findings to management and recommend improvements to mitigate risks. 8. Training and Development:
Maintain professional proficiency in all systems and applications. Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge. Share insights and knowledge with colleagues, contributing to a culture of continuous learning. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in security monitoring, video surveillance or alarm response advantageous. Experience in a security operation or 911 dispatch center preferred. Skills and Abilities: Proficiency in operating security monitoring software and systems. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong computer and operating systems skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong customer service skills to address inquiries from staff, clients, and stakeholders effectively. Ability to work effectively under pressure and make sound decisions quickly. Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to security monitoring. Working Conditions The Security Monitoring Specialist will work in the security operations center, which operates 24x7, including weekends and holidays. The role may require shift work and flexibility in scheduling to ensure full coverage. Extended periods of sitting while monitoring security systems are expected. Must be able to handle stressful situations that may arise during monitoring and incident response. Physical Requirements Ability to sit and concentrate for extended periods while monitoring screens.
