We are looking for candidates with and without experience in sandblasting and industrial painting to start immediately in Bellingham on a high profile project. Job Summary: Sandblasters operate specialized tools and machinery that fire high-powered jets of sand or other abrasives at metal and other similarly hard surfaces to remove paint, grime, old adhesives, rust and other imperfections from the surface so that it can be painted and refinished. Industrial painters are trained to perform specialized techniques specific to industrial settings such as marine (ships, pipes, steel buildings, etc).
Industrial Painters are skilled trade workers focused on specialized techniques specific to industrial settings such as marine (ships, pipes, steel buildings, etc). They have a strong eye for detail, know how to determine what paint and equipment is needed for the surface being painted, and any special considerations required through assessment of the job.
Entry Level: If you have a background in construction, shipyard, or any type of industrial settings where you performed labor (unskilled & skilled), painting, building, steel work (bridges, steel frames, etc) using power and hand tools (such as grinders, needle guns, air compressors, welding machines, sanding machines, machine operation, etc), and even non-industrial related painting (air and airless paint sprayers, pressure washers, etc) then you would be a good fit for this industry. We are looking for the right candidate to train in this field who is motivated to learn, has a strong work ethic (flexible, reliable, and punctual), and is self-driven to learn the trade.
Experienced: The more experienced you are the higher pay you will receive. This includes certifications and training;
C7 Abrasive Blaster Certification: blast cleaning of steel and nonferrous surfaces
C12 Spray Application Certification: 800 hours appling protective coatings with airless/conventional spray in an industrial or marine environment
C14 Marine Plural Component Program certifies workers operating plural component spray equipment to apply protective coatings on steel in immersion service by airless spray
NACE CIP1 Certification: Certified coating inspector who conducts basic coating inspections on steel substrates using NDT techniques

Key Responsibilities: Sandblasters/Blaster Operators- Operating high-pressure hoses to blast away layers of paint, dirt, grease, or other built up material from surfaces
Using sandblasting equipment, including compressors, filters, hoses, nozzles, and pressure gauges
Inspecting work sites to ensure the safety of workers and property
Inspecting blasting operations to ensure that they are performed in accordance with safety regulations
Cleaning tools and equipment to prevent clogging or other problems that could result in injury or damage to equipment
Cleaning work areas before and after blasting projects to remove debris and dust
Preparing blasting equipment for use by checking fluid levels and replacing worn parts
Operating a computer to enter data about blasting jobs, including work order information and progress reports
Abrading surfaces, mixing abrasives, & directing abrasive materials towards surface parts
Industrial Painters- Use a variety of tools and techniques to paint a variety of surfaces
Setup project with the correct type of coating and paint needed for the surface you are working with
Additional Responsibilities: Working in confined spaces is expected
Candidates will work in a variety of industrial settings such as shipyards, on and inside ships/vessels, in other companys facilities, and work in the shop operating the blast booth and cabinet
Painting and/or coating as needed
Flexibility with job/assignment locations (shipyard, client sites, & the shop/yard)
Take direction from lead/supervisor and follow their direction and be a self-starter needing minimal supervision
Make sure sites/shops are cleaned of debris and material and all tools, cords, and material are put away each day before end of shift
Minimum Requirements: For Entry Level- Minimum of 1+ years experience/knowledge in a variety of these areas; Construction, shipyard, or any type of industrial settings

Heavy machine operation
Non-industrial related painting Air and airless paint sprayers
Pressure washers
Have the ability and desire to become efficient with painting techniques, meet company productivity standards and deadlines, and learn all aspects of the job as required
For Experienced- Minimum 3 years proven work experience plus one or more of the following certifications/documented experience (preferred); C7 Abrasive Blaster Certification: blast cleaning of steel and nonferrous surfaces
C12 Spray Application Certification: 800 hours applying protective coatings with airless/conventional spray in an industrial or marine environment
