The role of a Respite Nurse is to offer one-on-one time between a child and licensed nurse within the family's home or community, or to provide nursing support and oversight to 10-12 children in a team environment on weekends. Respite care is designed to give families a break from the day-to-day care involved in raising a child with special healthcare needs. When You'll Work In home, 1:1 service is primarily afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Can be regularly scheduled or as needed.Group services start Friday 6pm through Sunday 6pm. Shifts are typically 8-12 hours. High need on SaturdaysWhat You'll Do Proved one-on-one nursing support in the home or community/Provide nursing support, rehabilitative needs, and preventative care in a ratio of 1:3 at the ChildServeCenterInteract with the child and participate in fun activities.Complete electronic documentation and paper MARSPossible skills used: medication administration, g-tube nutrition, seizure management, trach cares, etc.What You'll Need Current valid RN/LPN license in IowaValid driver's license with two or fewer violations in the past three yearsActive BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red CrossExperience working with children with special health care needs preferred.Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing and speaking the English language.Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the assigned work area, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.This position may be subject to COVID-19 safety requirements.
