Job Description: The individual will work as a Research Scientist within the Translational Research Laboratory. Responsible for carrying out independent as well as collaborative research experiments using cell biology, biochemical, and molecular biology techniques.
Responsibilities/Duties: Carrying out independent as well as collaborative research experiments using cell biology, biochemical, immunological, and molecular biology techniques. The position requires experience in the maintenance of mammalian tissue cell lines, cryopreservation, cell isolation, testing for cell viability, proliferation, and performing cellular, histological, and molecular biology techniques using several cell & tissue culture models. He/she will be responsible for the development and optimization of gene techniques (such as PCR), and protein technologies, including, but not limited to, the design and optimization of ELISAs, immunoprecipitation, and immunoassays. Proficiency with RNA, DNA isolation, and PCR is required. Performing general laboratory maintenance Representing the laboratory in interactions with other departments. Performing RNA, DNA isolation, and quantitative PCR. Support the training of interns and other temporary personnel in Standard Operating Procedures, experimental protocols, and equipment-specific requirements. Performing sample processing, data recording & analysis, and using statistical software such as Graph pad for data processing. Preparing manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations with TRL research findings for internal and external use. Recording data in a laboratory notebook and reporting the progress in the form of biweekly reports Performing other laboratory duties as assigned Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be able to design, execute and analyze experiments independently. This position requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to work in a highly collaborative environment. At least 3 years of demonstrated experience in a research laboratory applying cellular and molecular biology, biochemistry, or immunological techniques is preferred (not including coursework). Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, and statistical analysis software is required assays.
Education and Experience: Master's degree or PhD preferred (cell biology, biochemistry, immunology, or molecular biology)
