About the College/Unit/Department: As the 4th largest public college of education in the country and the 3rd largest college at UGA, the Mary Frances Early College of Education (MFECOE) improves the lives of residents of Georgia and beyond through our instruction, research, and service. The MFE COE is a comprehensive college with disciplines focused on teacher preparation, counseling and human development, communication sciences, human movement sciences, career development, student affairs, and educational administration and policy. We place significant emphasis on graduate education with approximately 40% of our students at the graduate level, making us the second largest college at UGA with respect to graduate education.
Named for Mary Frances Early, UGA's first African American graduate, in February 2020, the MFE COE has a long and distinguished history as a leader in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our other strengths include a) partnerships with multiple units on campus, in the local community, and across the state of Georgia, b) faculty expertise manifested in well- regarded scholarship and applied practice, and c) recognition of our academic programs by external stakeholders.
The Department of Kinesiology has 26 full-time faculty members and offers B.S.Ed., M.S., MSAT and Ph.D. programs in the academic areas of Exercise Science, Health & Physical Education, Sport Management, and Athletic Training. Department faculty members are nationally and internationally recognized for their accomplishments as teachers, researchers and service award winners. The Department has excellent facilities in the Ramsey Center located on the main campus. The College of Education consists of 9 departments and approximately 230 faculty members.
The mission of the Department of Kinesiology is to enhance health and well-being for all people throughout the lifespan through the creation, transmission, and application of knowledge related to physical activity, exercise, and sport. The vision is to be a global leader in creating physical activity knowledge, programs, and services while positively
impacting the state of Georgia, the United States, and other nations through the development of scholars and practitioners who study and promote physical activity, exercise, and sport.
The Department has academic programs in four areas: Exercise Science, Health & Physical Education, Sport Management, and Athletic Training. Each of these programs offers major courses of study leading to undergraduate and graduate degrees, except Athletic Training, which is a graduate only program. In addition, the Department offers physical activity courses as general education that meet the University requirement for physical education by all undergraduate students.

Minimum Qualifications: Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with MS degree, Registered Dietitian (RD) credential, phlebotomy certification, and/or human subjects research experience is preferred.
Position Summary: This Research Professional position in the Department of Kinesiology in the Mary Frances Early College of Education will assist in the administration and dissemination of clinical research projects. This is a position in the Human Nutrition Laboratory of Dr. Jamie Cooper. The incumbent will lead research projects with the PI. Responsibilities will include study coordination, data collection and management, sample analysis, maintaining ethics and safety approvals, purchasing supplies, management of lab staff and student trainees, facilitating team meanings, and preparing research grants, meeting abstracts, manuscripts, and presentations.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies: Working knowledge of clinical research, preferably in the field of nutrition. Working knowledge of clinical assessment methods such as phlebotomy, body composition, diet assessment, and metabolism. Data management knowledge. Aptitude in student/staff supervision and management. Capable of working independently and being flexible with work responsibilities. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Working knowledge in scientific writing and grantsmanship. Ability to be detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills. Physical Demands: Primarily office and lab work. This position may involve sitting and standing for extended periods of time.

Duties/Responsibilities: Conduct human subjects research, including recruitment, ethics approval and data collection of anthropometric, questionnaires, metabolism, and body composition. Also, collection, processing, storage, and analysis of biospecimens.

Duties/Responsibilities: Project administration including development of study protocols, maintaining ethics, safety approvals and contracts, purchasing supplies and participant reimbursement, and coordinating multiple clinical trials.

Duties/Responsibilities: Data management, statistical analyses, and preparing table/graphs related to presenting research results at scientific venues (i.e. conferences, papers).

Duties/Responsibilities: Conducting literature reviews and scientific writing. Preparing grant proposals including assisting with budget preparation and writing.
