University of Alaska Fairbanks, the state's flagship institution, seeks an outstanding California-based Regional Admissions Counselor. One of the most unusual universities in North America, UAF is a public research university in a truly unique setting. UAF serves a wide variety of students, online and on campus. Because there is a community college embedded within the University, UAF offers everything from 1-semester occupational endorsement certificates through doctoral degrees.
The California Regional Admissions Counselor works primarily from home, developing and executing a plan to recruit and enroll students, primarily focusing on California and Colorado, plus a secondary territory covering the Southwest and Mountain States. This position involves extensive local and overnight travel, as well as regular evening and weekend work, during travel seasons.
The UAF Admissions Office prides itself on being student-centered, collaborative, and inclusive. This position will have a great deal of autonomy and responsibility, with excellent support from colleagues on campus. It is part of a small team of regional recruiters and reports directly to the Senior Regional Admissions Counselor.
The salary range for this exempt position is aligned with current California employment law, with a baseline of $66,560 annually. We are looking for candidates with strong organizational, interpersonal and small group communication skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively by phone, video conferencing, and email. To be successful, you must be flexible, motivated, hard-working, dependable, energetic, and detail-oriented. This position is required to be based out of the individual's home. Candidates must reside within specific boundaries in the southern California area, or as approved.
Work is done independently out of the candidate's home, and in high schools, community colleges, and other venues. Must be able and willing to independently travel for extended periods and work late nights, early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications include experience working with college students and/or college-bound populations through roles such as admissions counselor, high school counselor, advising, or student services; experience with diverse populations; demonstrated commitment to inclusion and equity; access to a reliable vehicle that can be utilized on a regular basis for local recruitment travel; knowledge of Banner and Salesforce; and experience as a regional admissions counselor. Being bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Position Details: This is a full-time, exempt staff position with a competitive salary and  full employee benefits package . UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental, and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the  UA Staff Salary Schedule , Grade 78, based on education and experience.
