Job Description DeAngelo Contracting Services (DCS) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Railroad Off-Track Spray Technician with a great attitude, strong ethics and morals, and a vast mechanical aptitude with a keen sense of safety. They will be responsible to spray and/or cut railroad crossings to specifications and to spray off-track areas within railroad yards around material piles, buildings, access roads and other areas.
Major Duties and Responsibilities: Fill truck with water/chemical mix. Minor weed eating with an industrial weed eater and minor chainsaw work with at least a 16" bar on saw, approximately 25% of the time each day. Pull hose out 300-500 feet to spray the length of crossing, and then pull hose back to the truck and roll up. In a typical day, you will pull out 300-500 feet of hose 32 times. Spray 8 to 10 crossings per day. Must drive truck and spray 8 to 10 railroad crossings per day. Must call MTM for daily job briefing. Perform paperwork required for the job at the end of the day. Other duties as assigned. Technical: Basic understanding of weed, grass, and brush types Complete understanding of chemicals used, what they control, and all safety requirements. Basic understanding of application methods and equipment  Basic understanding of calibration and spray patterns Other duties as assigned. Qualifications EDUCATION: High School Diploma or Equivalent is required. EXPERIENCE: Must have a valid drivers license with at least 3 years of clean driving experience. Ability to travel away from home for up to 4-6 weeks (hotel expenses paid by the company). Most days are ten-hour days, but you must be able to work twelve-hour days when necessary. Some Saturday, Sunday, or night work may be required. Hours may vary depending on weather conditions and workload. Spraying will be seasonal coinciding with regional office. Must comply with the company drug and alcohol policy. DeAngelo Contracting Services provide our employees with  paid training to help them become successful in their positions. Areas of training include:
Learn how to identify different weeds, grass, and brush species. Determine what chemicals effectively control what plant species. Learn how to safely operate application equipment. Different application methods utilized in the field. An understanding of how to maintain equipment. Basic computer skills required.
