Candidates must have knowledge of core mechanical engineering concepts. Some experience working in the rail industry is a bonus. An FE registration is desirable but not required.This position will report to the Resource Director, Vehicle Mechanical Engineering - NortheastAs the successful candidate, you will:Assist in the review design submittals, and the preparation of detailed review findingsParticipate in technical working sessions to address issues raised by clientsPrepare technical briefs, presentations and reports that identify work progress, defects/non-conformances, and areas of concernWitness electro-mechanical equipment undergoing qualification testing, including shock and vibration, environmental, and functional testingAssist with the conduct forensic investigation of failed components and equipment and reporting findings under the direction of senior staffDevelop technical specifications for mechanical equipmentParticipate in quality assurance and manufacturing audits under the direction of senior staffProvide engineering support as requiredRequirementsA Bachelor's degree in Mechanical EngineeringA minimum of 2-5 years of mechanical engineering experienceBasic knowledge of electro-mechanical and structural engineeringFamiliarity with mechanical engineering: kinematics and dynamics, stress analysis, materials, design of mechanical components and systems. Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skillsDemonstrate strong organizational skills, work well within a team, take direction from other senior staff members, the ability to multi-task while meeting deadlinesValid driver license (travel to various domestic and international sites required)Experience with Autodesk and AutoCAD software, SolidWorks, 3D modelingThe following skills/experience are a plus:Basic programming skillsExperience of Finite Element (ANSYS or Equivalent) SoftwareRapid prototyping / 3D printingRequirements for all sectors:To live our manifesto.
