The Production & Shipment Coordinator at Alcoa – Warrick Operations plays a crucial role in optimizing production processes, ensuring adherence to ISO 9000 standards (quality control/assurance), and providing support on the shipment process, as needed. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various departments to streamline operations and maintain high-quality standards.
Responsibilities include:
Work with production teams to identify (and fix) errors on the production process, analyze the processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, minimize lead-times, and increase consistency on the production process control. Ensure compliance with ISO 9000 quality management system requirements by maintaining relevant documentation, conducting internal audits, and facilitating external audits as needed. Support on shipping activities, including scheduling, documentation, and coordination with carriers, to ensure on-time delivery of aluminum products to customers. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including quality assurance, maintenance, ITAS, and procurement, to address production issues, implement corrective actions, and optimize workflow. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to shipping and production efficiency, analyze data trends, and generate reports to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives. Train and mentor team members on best practices, quality standards, and safety protocols to ensure compliance with company policies and foster a culture of excellence. To be successful in this role and to play a part in our ongoing success, we desire the following background:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field preferred. Previous experience in logistics, operations, or production management within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the aluminum industry. Familiarity with ISO 9000 quality management system standards and experience with quality assurance processes and procedures. Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify process inefficiencies and implement effective solutions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (mostly excel) suite and experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is desirable as far as database management. Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends to support operational needs.
