Position SummaryUnder the direction of the Director ERP Systems Functional Support & Analysis, and in collaboration with module team leads and campus constituents and partners, this technical analyst and reporting position will help configure and support the operations of my.SDSU (PeopleSoft CMS), and produce needed query (reporting) output for various business units on campus. This work will span a number of analyst and technical components that include, but are not limited to: Understanding and assisting in module configuration and maintenanceAnalysis of technical needsData analysis and queryAutomation setup to stage files for processing or moving processed (output) files to external 3rd party systemsExecuting required jobs to produce dataValidating data created and supporting local reporting needsActing as an additional resource in the business unit to help with user support needs focused on my.SDSUProvide first level support to triage and troubleshoot when jobs fail to run, error, or produce unexpected results.The Technical Analyst will provide consultation and facilitate the analysis and definition of business rules, service levels, and user requirements, and work cross-functionally to solve problems, improve processes, and implement changes. This local service to the embedded functional unit will be coupled with direction from the Director to facilitate collaboration and define standards for operations to help with efficiency and coordination.The Technical Analyst will participate in recommendations of appropriate role and row level security for users based on job function and duties at the University, helping to inform business area leads (MPPs) on appropriateness of production access requested for campus users based on user populations and student groups, etc.This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.This position is approved for partial telecommuting with onsite work in San Diego. This position is scheduled to work three days on campus and two days from the telecommuting site. ERP Systems provides stewardship over a complex technology infrastructure of systems and databases critical to the university's mission and operation, including student information, financial aid, financials, and human resources.ERP Systems provides stewardship over an innovative suite of systems and tools in support of the academic mission of the university, including student admissions, enrollment, registration, and student records. ERP Systems provides resources and services to ensure the collection, storage, management, and accessibility of student information is accurate and timely to help facilitate the success of students, faculty, staff, and administration.For more information regarding the Information Technology Division, click here .Education and ExperienceTo enter this classification, a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in applications programming and systems analysis and related programming support functions is a prerequisite. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science or business, or equivalent training and applied experience. Foundation knowledge and skills for the Analyst/Programmer, depending on the position assignment, may include working knowledge of a specific industry standard applications programming language and knowledge of standard systems analysis techniquesKey QualificationsMinimum of four years of complex technical business and system analysis work which includes hands-on project management experience related to software development, system integration, and application development, preferably in a highly regulated environment (education, healthcare, military, etc.) Working knowledge of PeopleSoft CMS or related ERP systems used in higher education.Working knowledge of PSQuery or other technical database languages used to create queries to pull data from an enterprise system into formats useful for technical teams.Experience providing user supportExperience in the development of workflows and key progress indicators of efficiency of support.Working knowledge of higher education enrollment business processes, procedures, and systems, and/or financial aid operations, and or financial student operationsCompensation and BenefitsStarting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $7,500 per month.Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.San Diego State University offers a rich benefits package that constitutes a major portion of total compensation.
