The Payroll Specialist I works with Human Resources department to ensure employees get paid, and the company makes the appropriate deductions when processing payroll. The Payroll Specialist I will ensure accurate employee data, and be responsible for balancing the payroll budget, and documenting all transactions related to an employee's wages, commission, bonuses, and hourly pay.
Process company payroll, and manage employee pay Ensure accurate employee data related to new hires, promotions, transfers, termination and benefit administration and payroll deductions Act as point of contact for employees regarding payroll and benefit administration Calculate and send out paychecks for employees with different employment classifications Maintain database and record employee earnings and make updates as needed Produce payroll reports for management Onboard new employees (pay aspects) and collect wage data Confirm approval for employee overtime or paid time off Communicate with employees about any discrepancies in pay Utilize payroll software to pay full-time employees, bargaining unit employees, contractors and other workers Make suggestions about payroll administration techniques Communicate with Accounting department if there are issues with processing payments or notice discrepancies in wage information and department budgets Compute and process off-cycle checks for terminations or missed hours QA/QC payroll time submissions, and batch process including charge codes, hours worked, verification of proper reviews, control totals, scanning analytics, exception monitoring and account reconciliation Make adjustments to databases, and use employee tax forms and deduction preference to determine the amount of money they accrue Prepare direct deposit details or create paper paychecks Handles employee issues with paychecks Document any refunds, advances or lost checks Troubleshoot where necessary and determine fair solutions to paycheck discrepancies Process garnishment calculations and ensure state compliance Review and prepare monthly union reports for submission and ensure monthly payments to unions are timely.
