Part-time Job Announcement Position: Part-time Adult Basic Education (ABE) Corrections Instructor

Responsibilities: Provide instruction in literacy, adult basic education, HSE (GED®) test preparation at the Athens-Clarke County Jail and the Day Reporting Center via the Georgia Department of Community Supervision to identify student goals to design an appropriate program to address goals. Conduct assessments in reading, mathematics, and language in accordance with the appropriate assessment systems in order to ascertain the academic strengths and weaknesses of participants. Develop individualized plans of study for each participant in the program. Plan and deliver effective and comprehensive instruction based on the appropriate curriculum guides and the needs of the population to be served. Plan, develop, and implement lessons that require the usage of higher-order thinking skills by the population served. Develop instructional materials to meet the needs of the students. Plan for and utilize volunteers in the education program. Monitor and evaluate student progress for the purpose of determining and implementing modifications to the student's original individualized program of study. Analyze student performance data. Ensure high visibility of local, state, and national print media in the classroom setting. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Adult Education, Business Education, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree and understand adult education systems within the Technical College System of Georgia.
