Job Description This is an at-will, non-partisan position. Work is performed onsite at our campus in downtown Lansing. This position is 100% on-site. Remote work is not an option for this position.
The Network Systems Analyst II position is a member of the Network Group. This group is responsible for servicing the computer hardware and system administration needs for the House of Representatives, including enterprise level hardware maintenance, asset administration and cyber security functions.
The work week is forty hours in length. This salaried position will require additional hours to meet project and support commitments. Session support can occur anytime outside normal business hours, including evenings and weekends. The incumbent's responsibilities are performed without political partisanship or consideration of party affiliation.
Required Education and Experience Responsibilities Provide support and mentoring to Network Analyst I's. Configure and install network file servers and operating systems, including required service packs and patches. Diagnose and repair computer hardware failures, including network adapters, peripherals, disk arrays and storage systems. Responsible for coordinating warranty repairs with appropriate vendors and ordering spare parts for onsite repairs. Install and maintain network services, including file and print services, virus protection, cyber security, video streaming, e-mail systems, Intranet and Internet websites. Maintain healthy network standards by monitoring server resources, daily backup processes and routine cleanup. Diagnose and repair network infrastructure problems. This may include: network cabling, patch panels, and hubs, fiber connectivity, routers, switches, and wireless networking components. Install and configure Windows operating systems, including Window server, SQL server, and IIS services. Administration of VMware vSphere. Support end user devices and applications through SCCM and Intune. Provide daily network administration, including password resets, adding/removing users, and printer assignments. Provide support for Representatives and Clerks during Session, including after-hours support. Provide resources and assistance to Network Analysts, Developers and User Support staff. The incumbent is assigned special projects by the Director, Deputy Director, or Manager of Network Services. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Advanced computer skills; must be fluent in MS Windows 11, MS Office and related applications. Experience with network (both wired and wireless) troubleshooting is required. PC configuration and image deployment in a Windows 11 environment is preferred. Windows Server and Windows Active Directory experience is required. Experience with Microsoft Software Center (a.k.a. Endpoint Configuration Manager) or Microsoft Intune is preferred. Experience with virtual servers is required. (Familiarity with VMware is preferred.) Experience within cloud management and technology is preferred. Ability to work outside normal business hours to complete tasks. We are looking for self-starters that are motivated to be successful. Minimum Qualifications The incumbent must possess strong troubleshooting skills. Problem solving and analytical thinking are crucial for this position. Effective verbal and written communication skills are required. The ability to lift heavy computer equipment up to 50lbs is a must.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Networking or, in lieu of degree, four years of experience working in a Microsoft Windows Active Directory environment.

Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.



Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.



Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year's Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.



Bonus Programs: Eligible employees with five years of service also receive annual longevity bonuses that grow as seniority increases. Some positions also may qualify for recruitment, retention, and performance bonuses or other special pay premiums.



Military Pay Differential: Employees in the guard or reserves may also qualify for supplemental pay benefits if miliary pay during qualifying duty is less than normal state pay. Prior military service may also allow seniority credits to accelerate eligibility for longevity bonuses and additional personal leave accrual.



Tax-Advantaged Programs: In addition to 401(k) and 457 retirement accounts, the state also offers flexible spending account (FSA), health savings account (HSA), and qualified transportation fringe benefit (QTFB) programs that can help you save money by reducing your taxable income.
