For Benefits information Click HERE JOB SUMMARY Manages local area networks, wide area networks, wireless networks, voice over IP telephone systems, and all the connectivity components associated with each service. Responsible for the design, configuration, installation, and maintenance of all network and telecom-related equipment and networks both on premise and in the cloud.
Specific to County IT Services: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure enterprise-level seamless connectivity, security, and performance across all network components across all County agencies. Possess a strong blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to enterprise-level network management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in an Information Technology field, plus two (2) years of equivalent network and telecommunications experience in a similar environment of size and scope; OR an equivalent combination of six (6) years of network and telecommunications education and experience in a similar environment of size and scope.
Industry networking or collaboration certifications are a plus.
Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required pre-employment background check and subsequent mandatory background checks in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Design, deploy, and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking devices.
Configure and optimize network components to ensure maximum performance, reliability, and security.
Assesses network and telecommunications support needs; develops and promotes effective solutions.
Analyzes network functions and evaluates the services provided; develops project plans to take action and recommends improvements; identifies milestones and issues to be addressed and generates reports as required.
Monitors utilization trends, and manages network and unified communications performance, to assure maximum uptime; performs ongoing analysis, capacity planning, and technical tuning of the network systems to improve performance and assist with the identification of potential issues and future design improvements.
Ensures reliable enterprise system operation by applying security updates and following security configuration standards and best practices.
Follows and maintains all network and phone system documentation, policies, and procedures.
Tests and verifies proper installation of copper and fiber cable installations to ensure compliance with standards for optimal network performance.
Serves as an escalation point for network and unified communications-related incidents.
Performs regular log security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions performance or security-related issues.
Monitors network consumption, capacity constraints, and trending as well as performs capacity planning to ensure appropriate growth and evolution of systems.
Coordinates, communicates, and informs customers of operations activities with other IT departments and services.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with stakeholders and other IT team members.
Resolves problems and works with other teams to ensure 24×7x365 missions-critical network availability, reliability, and performance.
