The Henderson mine is an underground molybdenum mining operation located approximately 42 miles west of Denver and 10 miles west of Empire. It has been in operation since 1976 and today consists of a large block-cave, underground mining complex feeding a concentrator with a current capacity of approximately 32,000 metric tons per day. It can produce approximately 15 million pounds of molybdenum per year. The Henderson mill is located 15 miles west of the mine, between Dillon and Kremmling.Both sites are surrounded by US Forest Service land of the Arapaho National Forest , making it easy for our employees and their families to enjoy year-round hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing in the area. Explore the opportunity to advance your career at one of our sites - the Henderson mine or mill and live life at the top!Employees who are required to work on-site are eligible for a $1,450 monthly housing allowance, provided they meet program guidelines.DescriptionEmployee who under general supervision safely performs duties related to the production of copper and/or molybdenum concentrates in the Mill at a highly skilled level.Completes duties within the Mill process which could include tasks within the following areas: fine crushing plant, COB, ball mill, roughers, cleaners, flotation cells, moly plant, copper moly thickeners, tailing thickeners, and mill control roomTakes process readings and makes necessary process changes or adjustmentsUses electronic process monitoring system to monitor conveyor, plant systems and equipmentPerforms start-up and shut-down of plant or related systemsMentors and trains other employeesActs as Fill-in Supervisor as neededOperates processing equipment and makes adjustments as neededPerforms basic maintenance on processing equipment and reports maintenance issuesMay operate mobile equipment such as front-end loaders, forklifts, skid-steer loaders, and overhead cranesPerforms area housekeeping duties and may perform work area and safety auditsPerforms other duties as requiredQualificationsMinimum QualificationsTwo (2) years of experience in Mill Process OperationsMust have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.Knowledge of the wet grind system and flow systems through mill and flotation areaKnowledge of the filtering and drying processKnowledge of placard system to accurately identify hazardous materialsKnowledge of environmental policies and responsible for reporting any issues and/or concernsMay be required to complete HAZMAT training as required by Department of Transportation (DOT) regulationsPreferredHigh School diploma or GEDCriteria/ConditionsAbility to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in EnglishAbility to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standardsMust be able to work in a potentially stressful environmentWork is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particlesWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms and work in confined spacesOccasionally may be required to lift up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the work dayWill be required to work rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 operationPersonal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as requiredFreeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State LawsWhat We Offer YouThe estimated pay range for this role is currently$26.50-36.50/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
