Niterra North America is seeking a Sr. Customs Compliance Manager. This position is responsible for developing import and export activities to ensure compliance with U.S. and foreign customs laws and regulations and audit, maintain, and perform all activities associated with the company's various Customs initiatives.
Essential Duties: Manage Customs Brokers, including establishing KPIs, broker reviews, process improvement plans, where required. Manage duty drawback program. Support drawback sharing agreements with suppliers and customers to include coordinating - required drawback document turnover for customer duty drawback. Be the knowledge center for incoterms rules and their application. Run various ACE report to provide monthly duty and brokerage reports. Manage tariff classifications & duty (inc S301) liabilities, valuation methodology used to import, reporting of assists, country of origin marking, and other customs agency requirements. Establish SOPs - KPIs for all the Import & Export operations trade and duty management programs, providing guidance on duty savings opportunities. CTPAT Program monitoring. Develop and implement trade and customs compliance policies and procedures. Educate and train employees on these policies to ensure company-wide compliance. Generate reports on trade and customs operations, compliance, and costs for management and regulatory authorities. Provide recommendations for improvements and cost-saving opportunities. Conduct internal audits to assess the company's compliance with trade and customs regulations. Collaborate with external auditors and customs authorities during compliance checks. Identify and mitigate trade-related risks, such as tariff implications, trade sanctions, and compliance issues. Develop and implement risk management strategies and contingency plans. Other tasks and projects as assigned to further personal development or meet department objectives. Minimum 10% business trip as needed. Adhere to all company policies and procedures, and if applicable, all will adhere to all company policies relating to IATF16949 and ISO14000. Academic Skills/Knowledge/Experience: Bachelor's degree in international trade, logistics, supply chain, or another related field or equivalent experience Minimum of 7 years of experience in international trade, logistics, supply chain Minimum 5 years of experience in a Custom Brokerage role Possess current Customs Broker License Solid knowledge of Incoterms rules Expert knowledge of United States U.S. Customs regulations and other regulations for Import & Export operations including legislation and controls of FCPA, US Export Compliance/Administration Regulations (EAR), anti-boycott regulations, Europe export control regime, China tariff regulations, maquiladora, etc. Experience CTPAT Program Experienced in setting KPI for the department Experience with ACE reporting
Experienced in tariff classifications & duty (ex: S301) Experience in continuous improvement methodology Excellent communication skills – verbal and written Demonstrated problem solving skills and analytical thinking Strong negotiation and consensus building skills Strong project management skills Ability to work collaboratively to accomplish shared business objectives Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office applications (especially Power BI and Excel) Possess mental faculties consistent with performing at least the minimum essential functions of the job Physical Requirements: Ability to travel with public transportation Ability to communicate verbally and in writing Ability to use keyboard and computer   Potential Hazards: Normal hazards associated with office environment Normal hazards encountered with traveling
