Medical Collections Specialist Job description:
This position is responsible for performing payment follow-up and collection activities on patient accounts as assigned. The Medical Collections Specialist will have to call patients directly and attempt to collect on the medical bills that they owe. The successful candidate has excellent written and verbal communication skills while being professional yet assertive. Highly effective organizational skills are required for accuracy and timely gathering of data. This fast-paced position requires a high attention to detail. Prior knowledge of insurance claims verification and or filing is a plus.


Medical Collections Specialist Duties/Responsibilities:

Aggressively seek final resolution on all denied medical claims. Provide ongoing appropriate collection activity on appeals until the payer has responded to the appeal. Review contracts and identify billing or coding issues and request re-bills, secondary billing, or corrected bills as needed. Resolve any incoming phone inquiries from insurance providers requesting medical records and/or letters of medical necessity. Research, compile, and respond to documentation requests from insurance carriers in a timely basis. Contact insurance carriers to collect on zero paid account balances. Responsible for documenting ANY and ALL activities, contact, and communication with insurance companies in the system. Review EOBs Identify payer specific billing requirements. Medical Collections Specialist Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent AA Degree or Vocational training preferred in a related field A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a medical collection role- communication with both patients and insurance companies Individual must be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Customer Service skills/experience 1-2 years Analytical skills Knowledge of Medical Terminology and medical coding Medical Collections Specialist Schedule:

Full Time Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM Medical Collections Specialist Compensation:

Hourly rate competitive with experience Full time employees may be eligible for the following:
