Job Description:Summary:The person in this position will work with multidisciplinary project teams providing mechanical engineering and related technical expertise in our Denver office. The work will primarily serve heavy industrial clients at oil and gas and/or power generation facilities. Other industries served may include mining, specialty chemicals, and manufacturing. Assignments may include system design related to fluid transfer, HVAC, heat transfer, and plant equipment layout; preparing design/construction drawings and specifications; completing engineering calculations and analyses; sizing and selecting equipment and components; writing technical reports; preparing sketches for system arrangement; developing details of designs; and preparing cost estimates and bid packages. The work may involve short-term, out-of-town assignments.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university10 years of related work experienceProfessional Engineer (PE) certification or ability to obtain within one year; Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) if not currently a PEFamiliarity with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office software, and computer simulation modelingStrong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skillsWillingness to work cooperatively in a project team environment that encourages self-initiativeDemonstrated project organization and management skillsFlexible working style as required to meet deadlines and/or client needsValid driver's license and acceptable driving recordLegal authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the futurePreferred Qualifications:10+ years of working on projects directly related to job responsibilities described above at a consulting engineering or industrial workplaceBackground/experience working on industrial construction projectsClient service aptitude and experienceExperience working directly with clientsProven experience involving pumping/piping systems, gas compression systems, HVAC, dust collection, and/or other relevant mechanical systemsDemonstrated project or task management skillsA hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Denver, Colorado, office.Colorado Applicants OnlyCompensation:The anticipated base salary range for this position is $90,000-$120,000. Compensation will vary based on experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus.
