DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES? The ideal candidate will provide on-site maintenance support through continues optimization and inspections within the highly automated Steelmaking Facility including an Electric Arc Furnace (EAF), Ladle Metallurgy Furnace (LMF), RH Degasser, and Continuous Slab Caster to meet
the business goals of AM/NS Calvert.
The Basics: High school diploma or GED required 5 years of mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial setting required Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings/schematics Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, overhead cranes, cooling water circuits, and conveyor systems Ability to read and understand hydraulic and mechanical drawings to include P&ID's Ability to perform "Hot-Work" – Burning, welding, grinding Familiar with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint) The Extras: Internship or Associates Degree preferred Experience operating mobile equipment preferred (aerial lifts, forklifts, mobile cranes) Experience in the steel industry preferred Experience in the Steelmaking industry preferred TRAITS TO BE SUCCESSFUL Makes good and timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward Holds self and others accountable to meet commitments Takes on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm Builds partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives Adapts approach and demeanor in real time to match the shifting demands of different situations WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING Project Execution and Start-up phase: Perform construction site safety walkthroughs Assist in the development of maintenance procedures prior to startup Ensure HIRAC safety reviews are performed for maintenance procedures Assist in the development of energy control procedures and ensure they meet operational needs Perform mechanical early equipment reviews of OEM equipment Operations phase: Performs maintenance inspections and repairs including, but not limited to, mechanical components, water systems, belt and conveyor systems, mechanical drive systems, hydraulics systems, cranes, and baghouses within the Steelmaking Facility Analysis, solving, and reporting of mechanical problems and failures Support the development and implementation of continuous improvement projects Ensure proper safety, environmental, and quality of asset area(s) YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT Construction site environment Industrial/steelmaking mill environment Gulf coast region in Calvert, AL 24/7/365 operating facility; Shifts will vary depending on business needs People with heart pacemakers or any there electronic medical device are strictly prohibited from entering the furnace area. These devices include implanted pacemakers or implantable cardiac defibrillators where the device may be affected. Individuals identified to potentially work in EMF affected areas should identify the specific device they have as part of a medical history and manufacturer's recommendations should be followed.
