Position Summary: The learning position for setting up, operating, and maintaining one of the Induction Furnaces to heat treat continuous chain while maintaining QC specifications and following ISO protocols.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Learn about the safety aspects of the job and various safety concerns throughout the Form & Weld Department. Learn the quality standards of the product. Learn to operate either, but only one of the Induction Furnaces. Learn to read and understand the daily production sheet. Learn to read and understand Job Traveler. Learn to correlate the Job Traveler with the PMT on the bin box of chain to select product for processing. Learn to determine frequency of current, time cycle and induction furnace coils to be used for each product, using knowledge of induction machines, heat-treating methods, and ISO documents. Learn to perform induction furnace set-up on one furnace for various sizes of chain and heat-treats by following ISO change-over sheets. Learn to utilize hand tools to position and fasten induction coils, pocket wheels, and rail distances according to material specifications. Learn to perform QC tests for destruction, elongation values, and hardness of samples based on QC specifications and ISO standards. Learn to clean furnace filters as required by cleaning schedule. Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience Required Qualifications: Mechanical skills or demonstrated ability to learn mechanical skills, ideally within a manufacturing environment. Must be able to use or learn to use measuring instruments such as calipers and rulers. Must be able to use hand and power tools Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment Physical Demands/Work Environment: Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, crawl, or climb a ladder. Must be able to lift 50lbs, at times may be asked to lift more. Environment is non-climate controlled. Production floor is typically loud. Must wear required PPE.
