Full job description Position Summary:
Adams State University seeks a dynamic leader to serve as the Director of the Nielsen Library. The Director of the Library provides strategic leadership, direction and oversight of the Nielsen Library. They work with library staff, campus administrators, faculty, and students to direct the overall administration, program planning, policy development, budget, and resources allocation for the Nielsen Library. The new Director will provide a vision for the library that responds to student needs, provides excellent leadership, and promotes the library as an integral part of the campus and community. The Nielsen Library serves as a central hub for both scholarly research and student services. It houses a computer lab and classroom, the Grizzly Testing and Learning Center, Academic Advising, Student Support Services and the Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative (COSI) in addition to more traditional library services. Librarians actively support online, on-campus and incarcerated students in finding the resources they need to support scholarly work. They provide instruction through the LS225 Introduction to Library Science class, and support the Inquiry project in First Year Seminar. The Library also plays a pivotal role in promoting and supporting faculty in the use of OER resources.
The Nielsen Library is staffed by 3 librarians in addition to the Director, two staff, and countless work study students. The Director will not only provide leadership but will serve as a fourth librarian, contributing to the overall skills and capacity of the library staff.

Specific Job Duties (Essential Functions and Responsibilities)
Directs Library operations and provides leadership and implementation for strategic planning Promotes the importance of library programs and services throughout the campus, the community, and the state Directs personnel management within the library, including recruitment, evaluation, development, mentoring and retention of staff Prepares the budget and maintains compliance with University fiscal policies Demonstrates awareness of emerging technologies and trends in academic libraries Manages library collections, programs, and services using assessment tools to inform changes Works collaboratively with library staff to promote delivery of strong customer service Oversees building maintenance, including auxiliary departments housed in the library Works at service desks, including occasional evening and weekend rotations Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in library science from an ALA accredited program 7 years of progressively responsible library work, three of which are in an academic library 3 Years of experience supervising professional staff Demonstrated success in program planning and implementation Demonstrates knowledge of, sensitivity to, and ability to work effectively with, the educational needs of individuals and groups with a diverse range of identities, cultures, backgrounds, and abilities Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the racial, socioeconomic, academic, and cultural diversity of Adams State University's student population, including students with different abilities (e.g., physical and or learning) as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded, inclusive practices within the classroom Demonstrated commitment to honesty, efficacy, and collaboration. Commitment to professional development, scholarship, and service to the university and community. Preferred Qualifications:
PhD or second advanced degree Experience providing library services to distance learners Experience working with consortia Experience working with diverse populations or in rural settings Ability or experience working with historically under-served and/or underrepresented populations, and first-generation college students. The pay range for this position is $82,344-$93,660 commensurate with experience and education.
