Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.Job DescriptionResponsible for systems engineering activities that support:GE's fleet of BWRs including the BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor (SMR) and/orPrimary design focus areas for our Mechanical Systems teams include:BWR Mechanical Balance of Plant (BOP) Systems such as Heating Ventilation and Cooling, Plant Chilled Water, and Containment Cooling Systems.Essential Responsibilities:Perform system design activities including: system design specifications, ducting and instrument diagrams (D&IDs), heat load calculations, component and duct sizing, and equipment Failure Modes Effects and Analysis evaluations.Develop and maintain component specifications for Air Handling Units, Dampers, and Fan Coil UnitsResponsible for analysis and design work supporting system requirements and specifications.Conducts component and product integration. All activities that span multiple components and products and are concerned with how to integrate for maximum performance and operability.Manages product and systems requirements, specifications, and flow down.Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing.Responsible for defining product requirements for the module / component / subcontractors and partners teams.Manages interface between components and execution organizations.Responsible for driving CTQ / Risk trades within the teams designing the components. Manages the overall product configuration and configuration control system.Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy. May include support roles with specialized technical field of knowledge; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills.Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of definedinstructions/parameters.A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team. For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Explains technical information to others.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or other relevant Engineering degree from an accredited university or college.Minimum of 5 years of experience in an Engineering role.Minimum of 2 years of mechanical systems experience.Eligibility RequirementsThe preferred work location for this role is at the GEH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC; but highly qualified(US based)remote candidates will be considered.Ability and willingness to occasionally travel to domestic and international plant sites (less than 10%)Desired CharacteristicsMaster's degree or PhD in an engineering or technical discipline.SRO license qualifications or plant experience desired.Strong Leadership skills.Professional Engineering Certification or willingness to obtain P.E CertificationKnowledge of working within a regulated environment (nuclear).Knowledge of quality standards and systems (e.g., NQA-1 and ISO 9000).Experience and/or interest in nuclear power industry.Ability to work to tight deadlines and cope under pressure.The salary range for this position is $99k - 140k. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location.
