Position Descriptions, Responsibilities and Requirements Three (3) Law Clerks I
• These positions are fully remote, but with a requirement to come into the office as needed (subject to change); see details in description of location above.
• Assists attorneys with all phases of criminal litigation, including pretrial discovery, motions, hearings, trials, and appeals.
• Reviews and analyzes documents, transcripts, files, and other materials to locate information and evidence relevant to investigative actions or responsiveness to grand jury subpoenas.
• Uses electronic databases to perform litigation support tasks, including reviewing, organizing, indexing, tagging, and summarizing documents, files, and other materials. Conducts database searches for documents and information.
• In addition to objective document review, performs document review of a subjective nature including coding materials for case-specific legal issue, themes, and areas for further investigation. Law Clerks will work more closely with Trial Attorneys to gain subject-matter knowledge of the industry under investigation.
• Assists attorneys in preparing for, and conducting, interviews with prospective fact witnesses, investigative sources, and expert witnesses.
• Familiarity with federal criminal investigations and trials is desirable. Law Clerk I Basic Qualifications
• Law degree, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study. Only the Contracting Officer can approve a waiver related to the education requirements.
• Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
• Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
• Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging.
• Role also requires hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources. This document review is being conducted in Relativity, so Relativity experience is preferred, but experience in electronic document review in some eDiscovery software is required.
Required:
J.D. Degree and Bar Admission in any U.S. State Clearance: Candidates must have ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance, start date will be contingent on obtaining clearance.Hours:
Each position is considered full time, which is 40 hours/week, 8 hours/day. The contractor must work the 8 hours/day within the core hours of 8:00 AM through 8:00 PM, Eastern; the proposed schedule must receive prior approval. During their core hours shift, all staff must be available via MS Teams and for phone calls; this is the preferred methods of communication. In addition, due to the demands of active litigation, overtime hours will be occasionally necessary for time-sensitive projects. If overtime is needed, overtime shall only be performed with the prior approval of the COR and in accordance with contractor procedures.
Period of Performance:
Base Period - June 1, 2024, through May 31, 2025 Option Period 1 - June 1, 2025, through May 31, 2026 Option Period 2 - June 1, 2026, through May 31, 2027
