Job Summary The Water Quality Management team at Aquarion is looking for an Intern!
Principal Responsibilities Safely drive to customer homes within Aquarion's Connecticut systems to drop off and pick up samples. Support the Water Quality Information Services Coordinator with soliciting customer participation in the lead and copper monitoring program, as well as communicating results. Assist in the planning of lead and copper sampling routes throughout Aquarion's Connecticut systems. Support the laboratory information system process by receiving samples. Prepare samples for transference to contract laboratories. Performs all duties in a manner consistent with company safety procedures for working and general driving safety. The position may also assist with the Connecticut reservoir deeps program when needed, which involves working on a boat to collect water samples from a reservoir. Preferred Requirements Applicants must have good written and oral communication skills as well as above average problem-solving abilities. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft platform including Word and Excel. Applicants must be able to lift 50 pounds. Boating experience including Boating Certificate from CTDEEP. Applicants must possess a valid driver's license. Education/Certifications Have or be pursuing a Bachelors degree in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science or related field. Experience in the drinking water field is desired. Salary This position will run from May through the end of September (with possible extension through end of year). Interns will report to our Monroe office (200 Monroe Turnpike). Full-time (40 hours) is required. Interns will be expect to work from 8AM-4:30PM. This role will pay $17 an hour. Aquarion requires all new employees to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by their first day of employment.
